rory Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Hi this is my first post. I have a heritage i bought a couple years ago from jp moats directly. The thing is i never seen one like this. It has a black plate on the body under the bridge. I looked up the sn# and it said it was made Aug. 5 1985. Jp told me that the body was cut out for a whammy bar but they didn't put that on there guitars then so it needed a special plate to cover the hole. Just wondering if someone here as ever seen this before. I haven't. one of a kind i hope.
ledzef Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Welcome Rory and that's a great 140 you have there. I know they used to use Kahler trems but no I haven't seen a plate like that before but other members might have. And btw alot of people will be jealous that you have a Heritage that dates back to '85. Enjoy our little community.

kbp810 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Welcome to the HOC, and thats a great guitar and a great piece of Heritage history you have there! I'm fortunate enough to posses a "B" as well... but I'm still jealous!
FredZepp Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 that is a very cool 140 ... and the "B" Serial is special. This one crafted in very first year of the company brings a bit of the Heritage history with it.
rory Posted February 7, 2011 Author Posted February 7, 2011 thanks! the only thing i worry about is that, is that plate dropping the value of the guitar or helping it? theirs no stamp in the wood of the headstock. like some have with 2 on it or any of the other second hand defects. So i'm going to get in appraised. just curios.

It is the story behind it being an early first year experiment at the plant that makes it ok. And the serial number backs that story up.
