JohnCovach Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 My 60s band played a club gig last night and I took the black 157 for its first real spin. This is the guitar Eric had listed here last week, with Duncan 59s, Tone-Pros hardware, and bone nut. It sounded really, really good--I had a blast! I've got two 150's, and a 90s LP, but I think I like the 157 the best--for now, at least. I'll have some pics soon, since there was a photographer at the show snapping shots all night.
MartyGrass Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 That's the one with black hardware? Welcome to the world of H157s!
JohnCovach Posted February 13, 2011 Author Posted February 13, 2011 Nope, regular gold hardware, but I know the guitar you mean. I had a nice goldtop 157 for a while but sold it. I think I like the black one better.
FredZepp Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 There is a magic in a black 157.. just something about how the gang at Parsons St. makes them. Underneath that sexy black finish is a special mojo. I can't wait to see the pics.
golferwave Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Congrats on your new H-157. As Fred said, they do have a special mojo to them and it seems if you sell one you'll eventually get another. Enjoy!
mark555 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Sounds like a good time for you John, and a very nice guitar to play. I would love a black 157 with those Alnico P90's that Gibson put in the early customs, black soap bars, they looked so good and sounded great. I Would also love a black 157 with 59's, I have those on my 555.

Seymour Duncan is offering those now in his custom shop. pricey, but worth it IMHO...
