Beautiful wiring job! Got anything special planned for the cab?

Nothing really special this round, lol - going with a brown "leather'ish" sort of looking tolex, and beige grill gloth (head cab).

How's the 5E3 coming along?

I'm still practicing finger joints on scrap wood and building up the courage to put that oak on the router table ;) Scares me to death!

Nope!!! Fedex dissed me today!!!!

Well, I didn't really have time to break out the soldering iron tonight anywho so no harm done.

WOW!!! I stumbled on to this thread not realizing what a "D-style ODS" meant. What a great project. Looks like you are doing a fantastic job. Can not wait to hear some clips of it.

Fantastic Job!!

Rock on!!

Nothing ever seems to show up as quick as we want it. Guess we'll all have to be patient on this one!

Not patient, Where is it???? Doh! We need more pics, something to keep us going!!! I know you went to Parson St. yesterday, but you need to fill us in... the waiting part is too hard! We're on the edge of our seats!!!!! :crazy_mini:

DB,

I hear ya loud and clear, feeling similarly too, and I DO have the faith that the wait will be well worth it.

On the D-clone side of things...just scored a screaming deal on Fleabay for a vintage, possibly Gibby built 1/15 semi closed back with a vintage 100 watt rated Jensen Vibranto in it. Stuck my 50w HRM into it and WOW! WOW! WOW! Very balanced range from big bottom to a very articulate, crisp top end, and very loud for what wattage goes into it. Boutique amps for boutique guitars!

That one appears a tad busy inside KBP810. Is that spaghetti under the MM PT supposed to be there?

I know... I'm still waiting for the meatballs to arrive!!

I actually had the heaters and pilot light wires fairly neat and tidy... trying to snug that big ol' beast of a PT in put an end to that! (well, easily fixed once the wire clippers and soldering iron take care of all that spaghetti)

In the words of my favorite southern good 'ol boy.... Git 'Er Done! :icon_thumright:

Now it looks done... but still need to back track a bit and do a slow start on it tomorrow

(and that power side still looks a tad busy in the photo...)

In the Dumble discussion section of the ampgarage there's a thread about PI trimmer and tube mismatch...thought it'd be relevant for setting your PI trimmer at fire-up. Great looking build! I hope you like yours as much as I like my 50w HRM. The versatility of tones available is truly staggering! I sense a small D-style amp culture starting up here!

Had one minor setback.. turned it on for the first time and got nothing but a loud squeal :chok_mini:

Turns out the OT was just out of phase, just had to swap around the OT primaries and we have music!!! :dance_mini:

Thus far I've only had the master set to 1 and volume set to 2 and it's already shaking the whole house (and sounds absolutely wonderful!) :o

Tons of variation, and I feel like I haven't even played with every possible setting yet - 212MarvGuy is right, the versatility of tones is staggering

Now I just need to wait until spring, find an open field with a power plug nearby and really see what she can do :headbang:

I can't believe how those transformers make the preamp tubes look like scale models! Unbelievable all the detail that goes into the amp building. Hope it all works out!
