Kuz Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Thanks for all the fun guys, and due to the pitch forks and torches charging the house for pics, I haven't even played her yet. She needed a deep cleaning, polish, fretboard cleaning, new Thomastik George Benson Flatwound 12-53s, lower action, and intonation. She has a slightly thinner neck than my 575 or 525, but the wider neck makes that acceptable for me. Her color is Dark Almond SB. She looks just like Rob's SUPER super, in color. My pics came out more golden & browner than in person. She definitely has more dark maroon in person. So here is a boatload of pics....
brentrocks Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 That is frigging hot John. Wonderful combos going on there!
FredZepp Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Whew... nice porn, John. I knew that you'd take some great shots of it and you did. These are nice enough, that I'll be back later... just to check them out again.
High Flying Bird Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 That one's really nice John. Congrats to the max.
MartyGrass Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 John, Your guitar is in a different league than what most of us post on. It is a world class jazz box. There is so much to say, all of it positive. This should be the your last, best guitar.
golferwave Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 That is one beautiful guitar! The dark almondburst finish is fantastic and the flame on the back of the guitar is freakin awesome! How long did you have to wait?
big bob Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Thats a bona fied beauty... long may you strum.
schundog Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Meh... I guess it's alright; if you are IN to that sort of thing.... Oh, who am I kidding, that thing is OFF THE HOOK gorgeous; and I can't really even say that I AM in to that sort of thing! But that doesn't matter; the attention to detail, the quality that is evident even in photos, makes me proud to own instruments from the same name brand! I hope you own this guitar for the rest of your life, and, if and when you become to old to play it, you can pass it on to your son. Truly a guitar of a lifetime. Congratulations. Now go take a swim in that thing's back! It looks 3D! Enjoy her, Kuz.
fxdx99 Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Gorgeous, John. In the super hi-quality stable you have... even your other guits must be feeling some pangs of jealousy over the new beauty queen. Very nice!
koula901 Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 That's an amazing guitar, Kuz! It should balance out the pink in your life!
High Flying Bird Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 That's an amazing guitar, Kuz! It should balance out the pink in your life! Hahahahaha...... You gonna' like PSP Kat.
skydog52 Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 That is one gorgeous backside. Nice find John.
Kuz Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 That is one beautiful guitar! The dark almondburst finish is fantastic and the flame on the back of the guitar is freakin awesome! How long did you have to wait? Well, I sold my PRS Modern Eagle and bought it the next week. It was already made, just waiting for me!!!
Kuz Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 I really am getting along VERY well with the 1 3/4" nut. I ordered my Cust 555 with the 1 3/4" nut, but it is really more evident on the Eagle. Perfect for my hands and the extra width is great for some of those jazz chords (like 5th position 6th & -6th chording) I also want to offer a BIG THANK YOU to Patrick, whom I consulted and took advantage of his wealth of knowledge on archtops. AND yes you were right again about the Flat wounds, I am not going back to round wounds on my archtops!!! Kind of a nice couple if I say so myself...
yoslate Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 An absolute Honey, John!!! Can't wait to see it in the flesh, and that back is exceptional! You hit it again, brother! In some of the pics the color does look dead on the super Super. Well played, man!
tulk1 Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Kind of a nice couple if I say so myself... Needs a whammy bar. Other than that it's perfect. Is that an HRW pickup? Just a thought, if you really want to complete the set, you need a big box with Trap inlays and one with Split Parallels. Then you'd be rockin' the jazz world. ..........
donnie Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Truly, truly just drop-dead gorgeous! Congrats!
Fernando Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 WOW! That is a real beauty. Congratulations!
LK155 Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Dunno, John, isn't it a sign of incipient oldfarthood when you go after a guitar that's got air in it? Does look like a winner, though. Nice one.

Also, you're right on about those 2 beauties being a nice couple. The biggest difference you're gonna find, especially after the GE opens up, is the difference in the acoustical properties of a 17" with a single neck mounted pup . . vs the 16" with 2 mounted pups. What I predict will happen, is that one day while playing, either you or one of your band mates is going to say . . WOW . . all of a sudden, the GE just got a whole lot louder!! I've seen it happen more that once with larger arch tops. As it continues to "ring in" . . . it will continue to tell you secrets you never thought it had.

Yes it has an HRW, and I have not had a chance to make a fair assessment yet. I had to REALLY lower the pickup quite a bit, but with the wooden bridge & flatwound strings the HRW may work. It definitely doesn't have the lower output and intricacies of the Seth Lovers (like those in my 575). I wonder if putting the HRW in the bridge of my 575, and then using the bridge Seth Lover from my 575 for the neck Eagle pickup would work? The output on the bridge 575 Seth is lower in relation to the neck seth in the 575. Then again, I might want to keep the 575 stock. It might cost me more to have a luthier change out the pup out on the 575 then to buy a new neck Seth for the Eagle. So I wonder if there is any difference in tonality between the two Seth lovers or just apparent tone difference due to their position on the 575? Huh, anybody know if they are two different pickups, or just different orientation?
