Kuz Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 An absolute Honey, John!!! Can't wait to see it in the flesh, and that back is exceptional! You hit it again, brother! In some of the pics the color does look dead on the super Super. Well played, man! And you will my friend, see her in person!
Kuz Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 Dunno, John, isn't it a sign of incipient oldfarthood when you go after a guitar that's got air in it? Does look like a winner, though. Nice one. Yep, Lyle, definitely moving more toward oldfarthood and toward less hard rock and more jazzy bluesy stuff.
Kuz Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 You're very welcome John, I'm happy to help. Also, you're right on about those 2 beauties being a nice couple. The biggest difference you're gonna find, especially after the GE opens up, is the difference in the acoustical properties of a 17" with a single neck mounted pup . . vs the 16" with 2 mounted pups. What I predict will happen, is that one day while playing, either you or one of your band mates is going to say . . WOW . . all of a sudden, the GE just got a whole lot louder!! I've seen it happen more that once with larger arch tops. As it continues to "ring in" . . . it will continue to tell you secrets you never thought it had. ABSOLUTELY true, and there will be no substitute for playing the hell out of this baby to get her to open up. But I have been doing my own experiment and now is a good time to share. I purchased a TONERITE guitar "opening" unit about 3 or 4 months ago. It is a box that fits on top of the strings of your guitar, placed near the bridge. You place your guitar on the ground (yea, I know... even though the guitars are downstairs away from the kids, I have read the riot act that they will be grounded for life minus a hand if they hit/kick/touch the guitar)and then support the headstock, the unit goes between the strings and vibrates like crazy. You can adjust the level of vibration and only hear a low hum, but it REALLY vibrates like crazy. You leave the unit on for 72 hours straight, and then repeat or leave the unit on when not playing. Many have called this unit hog wash and myth, while others swear by it and many artists are endorsing it. I feel it has REALLY helped open up the 575 (I probably have over 200 hrs with it on the 575). The ToneRite unit cost about $150, but for this investment if it works, it's a small price to pay! tulk1 Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 The tonerite was getting quite the love/hate opinions over on the Mandolin Cafe. That was the first I'd heard of it. Too many players were saying they could tell the difference after using it for it to be all hog wash. Got to be something going on there. And with your approval, that's enough for me! Cool beans .
Gitfiddler Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Wow, that is one world class gitfiddle you have there! Wow!

I would send you mine to use for a few weeks, but it for guitar. That make different versions for guitar, violin, ect.. At first I thought $150 might be a bit much for only 1 mandolin, but I forgot you have two. Tonerite states that it can work for solid electrics too. Call me crazy but my Kirn Tele sounds much more resonate. I didn't perceive a difference on my solid body PRS though. I got the tonerite cooking on the Eagle as we speak. I look at it this way, if guys were putting their guitars in front of their stereo speakers to vibrate the top, then why not vibrate the strings to vibrate the guitar??!!!
Kuz Posted February 20, 2011 Author Posted February 20, 2011 "Wow, that is one world class gitfiddle you have there! Wow! " Thanks everyone so much for the kind words!!!! With only about an hour of flight time on the Eagle, I can tell this guitar has EXACTLY the tone I was hoping for!!!!!!
SouthpawGuy Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 That one is definitely top of the line. Congrats.
ronalr Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Congratulations Kuz...that is a stunning work of art!.....a really beautiful guitar....enjoy that baby!!!!
