zookroo1 Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 I thought the H 110 was a pretty cool looking design when I first saw it but I haven't really heard anything about it. Does anyone have one they are hiding or has anybody at least gotten their hands on one? Is this model going to turn into one of those super rare models that was rarely produced then discontinued? I hope not...
eljay Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 bananas music shows one: http://www.bananasmusic.com/productdetail.asp/PID_15263 there was one at the factory during psp3 and i picked it up; it felt good and i had a brief moment of axe-lust. the asymmetrical design puts me off a bit, though.
Gitfiddler Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 The H110 is a rare bird. I can only guess not many have been made due to the low demand. It's not my favorite body shape from Heritage, but I bet it is a great player. This is an image from the Gallery of Blue Ox's very attractive semi hollow 110 Natural. (Hope ya don't mind me sharing it)
mars_hall Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 There was one at PSP maybe last year, but probably the year before. It's all a blur. It was owned by one of the Heritage guys and Brent got to play it, as I recall. May be pics of it in the PSP Album in the Gallery. I know I at least saw the pics of it at PSP at one time. Would love to own one.

H Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 The OSB 110 on the Heritage site is *very* pretty. A little too close to my OSB 170 in looks for me to want one though. I wonder what difference the hollow body makes to the sound compared to a 170...

blueox Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 It's nice to see the H110s getting some discussion here. I'm still enjoying my custom version made last year. I do like my H150 as a classic design, but there's a side of me that enjoys something a little different. When Heritage came up with the H110 in 2009, I took notice right away. The classic designs from the '50s and '60s are wonderful, but I do feel that a musician can offer a visual statement by stepping away from the crowd a little bit. Of course, by submitting custom specs, I was able to go even beyond the regular H110 offering, making it a one-of-a-kind. Yes, to me, the folks at 225 Parsons St. came up with a winner with the H110.
zookroo1 Posted February 23, 2011 Author Posted February 23, 2011 Beautiful guitar Blue Ox! Where do you find it fitting in your guitar lineup compared to say the H150 or the semi hollow 335? Did you find it excels at any particular style of music the way it's set up?
blueox Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 The H110 sounds quite different than any other guitar that I own. The sound is largely a result of the unpotted SD Seth Lover pickups, I presume, but I have gravitated towards the semi-hollow instruments with an f-hole because of the airy quality of the tone. The ES-335 has a great sound, as does the H150. Relating the sound to a river, the H110 seems to have an even thicker flow than the other two mentioned. In my version, if the flow gets too thick and almost too hard to handle, depending upon the amp settings, the coil-tap switch can cut it down to a more manageable level. For info, my H150 weighs in about 11 lbs., while the ES-335 is about 9 lbs., and the H110 is about 7 lbs. as is the G Futura, but the F Thinlines are 6 lbs. I enjoy all the different tones and variations, rotating my axes through the days, with no one considered "best" in tone. However, the Heritage instruments, with special consideration given to this custom H110, are simply stunning in workmanship, appearance, playability, and tone.
