Tim Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Fun stuff. I was within ear shot of the factory today. In fact, I could see it from North St. where I was visiting one of my accounts. Didn't have the courage to stop in though (LOL...actually didn't have the time).
Blunote Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 If it were going to order another, it would probably be vintage wine burst. Beautiful color on a an absolutely first class instrument.
DetroitBlues Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Its going to be an exceptional rare instrument indeed! Hope you get it realitively soon for a custom order...
chico Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 I grew up in Battle Creek (60's) and miss that part of Michigan. A friend of mine since Kindy lives in K-Zoo, we still kep in touch. I remember when it was the other factory! Ditto bro, Bronson Hosp. class of Oct. '53, less than 1 mile from Parsons... You need to come back and visit the place now. (cue the Beatles "in my life") Vibes are righteous inside, even if it isn't the old place you grew up with. Remember Be-Mo potato chips? they were made up on the north side too, when I was a kid. you need to visit http://www.vanishedkalamazoo.com/ and, BTW, welcome to the HOC. also born and bred kzoo, chico
ronalr Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 sounds like a great day...nice pictures ...mandos are interesting.....
kbp810 Posted March 14, 2011 Author Posted March 14, 2011 Made another quick little stop by the factory today, and got to take a sneek peak at the neck Had a hard time getting a picture that would do the flame justice, but here it is:
FredZepp Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Oh my... it's not only a fantastic thing to see the progress as your guitar is crafted, but to have some build shots to enjoy to after it is finished. What a great build and a well spec-ed out guitar. (that flame looks incredible)
NoNameBand Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Oh, just your average run of the mill H157 in Vintage Wine Burst... ...with triple mini HB's ala Tom Short (custom wound set with lower wind neck and middle and a hot bridge), split block inlays, abalone side dot markers, medium C shaped neck, and a request for a fancy smancy quilt top! Are you kidding me? Wow! Thats what I'm talkin about. Custom order, get what you want.
DetroitBlues Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Oh, and there sure are a couple tasty guitars in the background. My eyes are drawn to the blue and the white one.
Steiner Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 How did the neck feel? Did they have the quilted top???
totonka Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I'll be making the trip to Kzoo on Wednesday. Gotta go pick something up. Apparently, the Brently saw it and said it looks "Awesome". By the way, the guy in this photo here plays in a local blues/rock band and is also a guitar teacher - I think I need to hook up with him, because he obviously has good taste in hardware.
kbp810 Posted March 14, 2011 Author Posted March 14, 2011 How did the neck feel? Did they have the quilted top??? He wasn't ready to roll it yet, was waiting on the fretboard to be finished before jumping into it The quilted top is in route to the factory now; didn't get to see it in person, but Marv assures me that it will either be stunning, or he's sending it right back for another that is!

I saw quite a few "Awesome" ones waiting around in the buffing room. Out of respect for it's soon to be lucky owner I won't dish out the specifics, but there was an H170 custom sitting there that made my jaw drop to the floor!
High Flying Bird Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I recognized Marv's hand holding that neck. Your new guitar is in good hands Brian.

kbp810 Posted April 7, 2011 Author Posted April 7, 2011 And here's my top! (just in case you couldn't tell from the emoticons, I am ecstatic!)

kbp810 Posted April 7, 2011 Author Posted April 7, 2011 Hmmm not sure what that finish looks like, does it resemble this one? Yep that's it, though I requested to keep mine lighter around the edges so that the maple can show through

Yeah I am completely thrilled! It is very exciting to see it come along, and to know that it's in very, very, good hands.
