MartyGrass Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 This is a 2008 H170 that belonged to a Heritage employee who worked in the buffing and finishing department. Marv did the neck. The pups were replaced with zebra 59s. TonePros bridge and TP. It's got an antique cherry burst finish, but it's not clowning around one bit. Tuning keys are Ivroid Sperzels. Here's some pics from my cell phone. The mahogany really stands out, both on the back and neck. Fretboard is dark rosewood. Weighs 9.2 lbs. It plays well.
602a Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Very Nice Mark, Call me if you want to send her south.
FrankV Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Beautiful. Could you please post a photo of the whole front? That headstock is schweeeeetttt!!! Heavy bugger too! Is that a two tone knobs and one volume knob?
schundog Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Sweet, Mark! Were there certain years where they did this sunburst-y headstock, instead of black? Nice score.
FredZepp Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 That is deee-luxe .. with blocks and matching headstock too. Great looking burst and it should rock with those pickups. The back has a very cool grain pattern.
MartyGrass Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 Two volumes, one tone. The headstock veneer, binding and TonePros were custom touches. Of course, TonePros are routine now. This full length pic doesn't have much detail because there's no flash. I'd love to brag about the tone. It sounds to me just like a 150 with 59s, which is great. This is a little lighter than the standard 150s I've had.
MartyGrass Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 I found a bonus. I just checked the case compartment. I've got a Levi strap complete with skulls. I'm going to use it, even if it frightens my family.
H Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Very nice! Seems to be 170 week this week - everyone's getting one or wants one. Is your 170 a little thicker than usual? They're normally about the same depth as a 140 I think. What makes it so heavy?
lilkuku Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Sweet! I'm still hunting. It seems when your looking hard, that's when all the good ones start showing up, but already sold!
koula901 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Marty That is beautiful! I love the headstock and the back - the back has such an unusual pattern! Wow!
602a Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Sweet! I'm still hunting. It seems when your looking hard, that's when all the good ones start showing up, but already sold! What are you looking for?
MartyGrass Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 The 2nd Edition H170 is 2 inches thick, like the H150. It weighs a bit more than the 1st Edition. Here's some proper pictures that show the finish better.
MartyGrass Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 Marty That is beautiful! I love the headstock and the back - the back has such an unusual pattern! Wow! It's probably a little heavier than what you had in mind. The LWs are in the 7 lb. range.
big bob Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 that looks great, my 2nd ed is a full 2 1/4 thick at the center of the cuts, 2' on the outside of the rim.. love that color
zookroo1 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I found a bonus. I just checked the case compartment. I've got a Levi strap complete with skulls. I'm going to use it, even if it frightens my family. The family might be scared at first, but it will toughen them up in the long run...
Kmenne Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 love those guitars! Real tone machines I am sure. Peace Keith
