Blunote Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Thought I'd record the new guitar with the SD-59s it shipped with. I'll be swapping in a set of Seth Lovers next week. Here are the audio clips I'll be as surprised as anybody if it works.... http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?q=hi&songID=10361818 http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=10361819&q=hi&newref=1 One clip should be a slow bluesy and clean. The other is faster with a little dirt. And, of course this is the guitar:
Giorgio Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 It looks really nice. It looks like the fretboard could use some nourishment, though.
brentrocks Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Clips sound great man! I love my H 150 DLX...there are a few floating arounf the HOC
tulk1 Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 No fair posting clips without disclosing the rig. And the recording technique. Thought the '59s sounded pretty good. I had them in an H157 and didn't care for them, but these sounded okay. Be interesting to hear what the Seths sound like in comparison over the same tracks.
Blunote Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 No fair posting clips without disclosing the rig. And the recording technique. Fair enough. I ran the guitar through a Boss ME-25 effects processor. It was set up to use the Marshall Vintage preamp along with moderate delay and reverb. The ME-25 was connected via USB to my laptop, and recorded using the Sonar LE software that came with the ME25. I like the 59s. I think they sound good straight through my Fender Blues Junior too. I'm hoping for a fatter sound with vintage honk for this guitar to compliment the uber creamy HRWs and thick sounding Schallers I have in my other Heritages. It'd be a shame if I swap in the Seth Lovers and wind up preferring the 59s. I'll be sure to record the same tracks with the Seth Lovers.
pegleg32 Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 I thought the 59's had some very nice tone. Enjoyed listening to the clip.
MartyGrass Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 It looks really nice. It looks like the fretboard could use some nourishment, though. What do you mean? I don't see it. Best oil for the fretboard comes from human skin.
Giorgio Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 What do you mean? I don't see it. Best oil for the fretboard comes from human skin. It may be the flash, but the rosewood looks a bit too light and in need of some care. I apply some olive oil to the fretboard once a year. H Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Best oil for the fretboard comes from human skin. Yep, I've *seen* people with skin like that
valriver40 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 great looking guitar. looks like a 150 will be my next purchase!
