VTGoose Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I have my first Heritage on the way. 2006 150 Goldtop with Lollar P90's. I am eagerly anticipating its arrival on monday. I am curious what to do about a pickguard if I decide to put one on. Has anybody done this? Can I get one from Heritage or do Gibson replacements fit? Thanks for any comments/help.
DetroitBlues Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 My H-140 original pickguard is the same as Gibson's LP. Of course mine is from 1985.... Brackets may be different, but I'd expect the pickguards are interchangable. However, in my opinion, these guitars look awesome without pickguards!
H Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I think there has been a thread on here before regarding the position of the screw-hole (forward of the neck pickup) of the Gibson part being in the wrong place for a pre-drilled Heritage. I think someone will confirm or correct the pretty soon Welcome to the HOC
Kuz Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 IF no pick guard is installed then you can get a Gibby Historic P-90 Pick guard for around $20 and it will fit perfect, like it does on mine. If a Heritage PG is already been installed, if you change to a Gibby one you need to drill new holes. I got my P-90 150 Pick guard from Sweetwater music.
rooster Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Or, you could use a stock Heritage pickguard and re-countour it... rooster.
schundog Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I have five used Heritages. Not ONE came with a pickguard, and only 1, my H-170 had ever had one. I'm not too rough on my guitars, so they don't really NEED a pickguard. Frankly, although I initially thought it odd to not have the pickguards, I now prefer it, as it lets the beauty of the tops show through. All this to say, you might wish to play it for a few weeks sans-pickguard to see how you like it. Good Luck!
blueox Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Welcome to the club. So your H-150 is coming without a pickguard? As a pickguard fan, if you have a local Heritage dealer, have them order a true Heritage pickguard from the factory or call or email the factory yourself and ask for advice. Your local guitar repair shop could install it, unless you are up for the job.
FredZepp Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Or, you could use a stock Heritage pickguard and re-countour it... rooster. Wow.. cool looking 150 there , rooster. And about the pickguard for VTGoose.. if it is drilled for a Heritage, it will need new holes for a Gibson Style.. but it will work.
