zguitar71 Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Sounds like you might need a Big Blond Super Eagle (CES) like the one I have for sale right now.
schundog Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Thanks for the soundclip and pics! Now THAT'S a way to introduce yourself. Welcome to the HOC.

I have 3 heritage guitars now: Heritage Golden Eagle (2 set in pickups) Heritage Golden Eagle thinline (Like L5 CT) Heritage H550 Very nice playing Jack, and btw, that gorgeous 550 looks vaguely familiar to me!! What are you running it through if I may ask?

What are you running it through if I may ask? in this case, I'm running it through a Gries 35 amp which is a 112 version of a vibrolux reverb amp. This recording isn't the best but I think it sounds best through this amp. I also have a henriksen 112 and a markbass/raezer's edge setup but the tube amp really gets the most bensonesque sound. The recording came out mushy though. I'll do one later with a better mic.

The H550 is fine, but you'd make any instrument sound great. I quit.
skydog52 Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 H550 on Soundclick Welcome aboard. Nice playing and nice Heritage classic!
FredZepp Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Very cool.. nice sounds there. The playing was excellent and the tone warm and woody.

Spectrum13 Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Nice starter threesome! and thanks for posting the porn. What pickups are in them? How do you like the ebony tailpiece vs the brass ones? Had to ask....
MartyGrass Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 How do you like the ebony tailpiece vs the brass ones? I know you didn't ask me, but I'll put my two cents in anyway. Here's the tailpiece on my Golden Eagle. I like it because it is easy to change the strings with, hides fingerprints, and looks good. I can't say it does anything for tone. Here's the tailpiece on my Thornton. It is fixed to the top. It has the same merits mentioned above. I don't know about the tone effect. This guitar has a spruce top, and that makes a big difference.
bebove64 Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Welcome to the HOC SOS ! Jack You are really a great player and also a master teacher,I hope to hear from you soon in order to join in the conversations (possibly jazz....just because...) You have three beautiful amazing axes!!!!!!!!!!! congrats
mark555 Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 welcome to a fine player with some fine guitars! Stick around and join in with us, this is a nice place to be.

How do you like the ebony tailpiece vs the brass ones? Had to ask.... The ebony tailpiece is actually brass with ebony facing. No diff in tone. I got it because the strings slip out of the regular tailpiece very easily. I may replace the tailpieces on the other two as well. On the blonde one, I think an ebony pickguard would look sharp on it!
Gitfiddler Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Now THAT is how a 550 is supposed to sound!! Great playing...very much like early Benson-meets Martino riffs. Welcome to the HOC! I'm sure you will have some valuable contributions.
koula901 Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Wow!!!" Loved the clip and the guitars-beauts! : )
