Any Egnater opinions?

I've been looking for another 30w or so amp to take to the blues jams. I've tried the Egnater a little and really like it. I've only tried it twice at GC. It's definitely on the pricey side, so was wondering if anyone had an opinion on it? While we are at it, any other suggestions would be welcomed as well.

I've played a few of his amps as well, and they sounded really good - that being said, the vast majority of Egnator amps on the market (especially via GC) are the ones made in China... yet a lot of them still carry a rather hefty price tag.

Find a used Peavey Classic 30 for $300 or so, and thank me later. That said, I have a great playing friend with the Egnater Rebel 30 Head and Cab, and he really digs it.

I'm finding that even the used ones fetch pretty close to what they go for new. I know nothing of the "maker" or that any weren't china made. That just adds a new element to the equation.

The amp is really nice, loads of tone too. I've found the heads rather cheap used for around $350.

I'm keeping my eyes open for a 30 watt. Saw a great price on a combo, but it's in Biloxi.

I bought my Egnater Tourmaster based off the sound of the gain channel of the rebel30 head and box.

Didnt really sound the same when I finally got it but didnt matter. it sounds great anyway.

The rebel 30's clean channel doesnt maintain its clean for as long as I like. Breaks up past the sound I like about the same time as any 30/40w amp though. The rebel 30 head sounds great through a 212 or 412 cab. Just like anything else does.

The thing that I like about the rebel 30 is the way you can switch between power amp tubes el34/6v6. Not much tonal difference to my ears but feel, response and texture differences become noticeable. The 1w 30w dial also is interesting as there isnt much volume difference one way or the other but again the feel and compression alter.

I love my Fenders and Mesa's but play my Egnater more. I really dont care where its made. Much like anything else it either works for you or doesnt.

Im thinking of buying a portable little rebel 30 combo for quiet jams. I really like Egnater products.

I really like the Rebel 20. Except for a lack of reverb, that amp just about has it all.

Can't you get your warm tube distortion out of that, Detroit?

You bet you can! I went to Guitar Center today just to mess with one again. Decided to mess around with the new Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III. Wow, much more great overdrive tone than the previous models. Rocked the place out using a Gibson LP Faded Cherry.

I'm thinking of going with a Blackstar. I played one yesterday and loved it. I've looked at the used prices and right now they are holding their value well. Think that's the winner. Probably the 40w combo. I'm thinking about the 20w head, but like a lot of head room. Didn't try the 20w yet so it may have all the head room I want.

We use a Egnator Renegade 212 combo in our band. One of the best sounding amps we have ever used. 18 watts & EL-34 tubes on the lead channel, 65 watts 6L6 tubes on the Clean channel. What more could you want? Jim plays a couple of Les Pauls usually without the need for effects.

Great amp.

I must admit, I love the way Egnator's blend the power tubes

So what did you end up with? Still deciding? I really think if I was back in the market for an amp, the HD Deluxe III would be the way to go... Sounds better than a Marshall Haze and more verstile than an Orange...

It's interesting that you came to this thought because yesterday I saw a You Tube vid A/B'g Blackstart with Egnator - and the Blackstar did seem to have a much more pronounced difference between the American sound vs. British, than Egnator.

Next time I go to my local shop, I should try one of those out. I'd love a Marshall like amp that wasn't a 50W amp!
