koula901 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I have a 5 watt Epi Valve Jr head, left the power on and walked away from it. Apparently, it was on for about 4 hrs, I think I might have burned some tubes or something - it made an extremely loud hum sound, stopped, and did it again awhile later. It was hot. Do u guys think I may have burned some tubes out? How do I check? Have no clue about these things.

A toasted Power Tube can do just that; but they often don't display obvious physical signs when this happens. Do you have a spare El84 on hand you can try?

DetroitBlues Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 He would be the guy who knows best! Besides, I've heard of lots of people who hot rod the Epi' Valve Jr's. Might be a good chance for you to do just that!
