DetroitBlues Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Since I've only been a fan of Heritage for the past year, I've noticed a 1st and 2nd Edition mentioned of certain guitars. So what is it and why did it come about?
tulk1 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I've only seen 1st and 2nd Editions in relation to the H140. The original was ....... well, the original design. Slightly thinner than what became the H150 (or LP, if you will), florentine cut. The 2nd Ed. has the same body shape as the H150, yet is still the thinner body, with belly carves. I think thats most of it.

FredZepp Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I believe that I've seen the 170 listed as a First/ Second edition, as it changed shape slightly....
GuitArtMan Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 The H-137 Second Edition is with P90s. The first editions had humbuckers.
tbonesullivan Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 the real reason is marketing. People can't stand having an outdated non-modern guitar that was designed any more than 4 years ago, so it makes them want to order another.
blues Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 My H137DC has a different bridge the the ones before it. Not sure if its a second edition or not. Its a 2009. I think it was made in part for Jay Wolfe to sell. I dont know how many were made. Maybe someone here would know.
golferwave Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 To me the H-140 second edition looks very similar to the out of production H-150 Special.
brentrocks Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 To me the H-140 second edition looks very similar to the out of production H-150 Special. +1 they should have stuck with the sharp cutaway, IMO

I believe Jay has from time to time ordered custom batches of models with non standard features. I believe my 535 (labeled a 35 Custom) was one of these custom runs, has a few extra bells and whistles.
DetroitBlues Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 So when did these "updated" models first start appearing?

Later they switched to a TonePro wrap round bridge. The owner of Pigtail passed away a few years back, but I understand they were hard to come by even before that.
DetroitBlues Posted March 23, 2011 Author Posted March 23, 2011 I keep seeing this H-137 with a single P-90 in it for $1200 used. Seems way to overpriced...
