Dasherdave Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Hi All, As I am still new to Heritage, I found reference to a H 150 VSB guitar on the officialwebsite and wanted to ask if these are still available or if they were a special run? What is the story behind the VSB? Also, if you own one, please feel free to post some pics and tell us why the VSB is a special instrument. Thanks very much all.
eljay Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 hi, dasherdave. afaik, (and i don't know very far), vintage sunburst is a standard finish offering.
FredZepp Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 The H-150 in Vintage Sunburst finish (VSB) is a very popular Heritage model . With TonePros hardward and Seymour Duncan '59 model pickups, it is a top performer... and very much available as a current model. Mine is an older one with a couple of modifications...
mtpatty Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 there is one for sale in the for sale section on the HOC as we speak...
mark555 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 there is one for sale in the for sale section on the HOC as we speak... I wish I could buy it!
H Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Simply a classic look on a fabulous guitar. I swapped the humbuckers for SD Phat Cats.
Blunote Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Lemme tell ya, SD Seth Lovers in one of those will rock you world too.
tbonesullivan Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 VSB, or Vintage Sunburst, is sometimes called "lemonburst", or maybe even "unburst". It replicates to a degree the "vintage" look of a faded cherry sunburst Les Paul. Back before 1960, Gibson used a red dye in their finishes that was very sensitive to light, and would eventually fade. Pretty much all of the cherry sunburst guitars from 58 and 59 these days have faded to "unburst". The 1960 Les Paul I believe used a different red dye, which did not fade nearly as easily.
Dasherdave Posted March 31, 2011 Author Posted March 31, 2011 Thanks for all of the replies, great info and pics guys! I didn't really consider VSB as a colour abbreviation! Shows you how new to the Heritage universe I am. Thanks again everyone...they are all beautiful instruments!!
Kuz Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 My VSB 150 (I have swapped it back to both having the amber bell knobs).
DetroitBlues Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Not to say the H-150 is a plain jane run of the mill guitar, but its a very common guitar for Heritage. Since almost every Heritage is more like a Gibson Custom Shop guitar, there is nothing plain about them. While I'll support local music stores that sell new Heritages, don't forget the for sale/to buy forum if you're looking for one of those too. But with all the pics above, you may just want one that's only been played by you because everyone here rocks out theirs often!
Dasherdave Posted March 31, 2011 Author Posted March 31, 2011 My VSB 150 (I have swapped it back to both having the amber bell knobs). That guitar is gorgeous Kuz!! I have to say, I kinda think the mismatched knobs looks really cool!!

Thanks DB, yeah I have gone through some of the instruments up for sale in this forum right now and there are definitely a bunch that seem like really well priced top quality instruments...I certainly have no issue with purchasing second hand guitars (as I have done over half a dozen times in the past). New guitars are nice too...I may have set a new plan in motion regarding a special VSB I have seen, but I won't say more than that at this time...it may not happen due to availability etc, but watch this space D.
tulk1 Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 DD, not really too much into the lighter finishes on the 150s. I'm an OSB, DALSB sorta guy. However! That 150VSB you posted just smacks of vintage. If that doesn't look like a vintage guitar, not sure what would. And if it had aged hardware on it ......... just WOW!! Hope you can get it, whether you move the EC Strat or not.
DetroitBlues Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Another thing to consider is ordering you own to your exact specifications is just like ordering a car. You might find a similiar car on the lot, but why settle when you can get exactly what you want for just about the same price.
MartyGrass Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Nice pic Doc. That's a meaningful compliment from a skilled photographer. The guitar is in the semi-erect posture, or should I say half cocked?
H Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 That's a meaningful compliment from a skilled photographer. The guitar is in the semi-erect posture, or should I say half cocked? The pickup selector switch needs a little Viagra, perhaps
MartyGrass Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Love mine. OK, that guitar was soaked in LSD. Amazing.
DetroitBlues Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 The pickup selector switch needs a little Viagra, perhaps Maybe he should look for a little blue "tip" for that selector switch.
