It seems to me that a LOT of people are buying 535s lately..Is this true, or has this old hillbilly had too much moonshine? :drunken_smilie:

535s have always been, are now, and will always be, HOT!! Best guitar out there, period. And yes, you've had too much moonshine... Give ME the bottle, Scott!! :occasion14:

I think you may be right. I got one in the past few months and love it. Does anyone know what the top selling model is? I would guess the H-150 but could be completely off base.

they seem to be most popular with the non heritage enthusiast as well. That body shape isn't as iconic as the les paul, and less people care about having the "real thing". Also, when you can pick up a used 535 for $1200 (what I paid for mine) as opposed to 2K+ for any used 335, most go with the 535.

Also there's the fact that my 535 looks more attractive with the finish color and flame and everything than any 335 I've ever seen.

Ah, actually it is a Mason jar. Bottle.... city slicker! :nono:

A 535 is hard to beat. It feels good to my lanky frame and the tonal possibilities are infinite.

Ever notice that when you buy a new car (new to you, used, whatever) you suddenly start seeing that same model everywhere you go? :rolleyes_mini:

Absolutely!! You pay more attention to what you currently have I think...nothing wrong with that...the 535 is an awesome looking guitar.

I know I asked Heritage about 5 or so years ago what their break down was on best selling models.

They said 50% Archtops & semis and 50% 150s/solidbodies. It used to be 10-15 years ago that Heritage was mostly known for their archtops, but that has changed.

This would be a great question for Ren at the PSP4 factory tour.

I think they have always been hot! Seems like those and the 150's are the mainstay of what keeps Heritage in biz!! I sure am glad I have one!

There is quite a churn for the 535s going on in ebay at this time, so I don't know if the popularity has peaked and people are unloading or if they are just cashing in on the apparent market wave.

The upside to that is there are plenty to choose from and all at reasonable prices!

They are one of the most popular models of Heritage for sure. They end up being better quality and better looks then its Gibson counterpart.

I always thought that a 335 was perfect for me. Satisfied the humbucker ,jones, the Gibson jones, the purist jones that I always had going on. At that point I started hearing that MIJ Washburn HB-35's were a legit contender for a pittance, so I bought one. Had it for years, and LOVED it, thinking that at some point I would upgrade to a 335. Well, everytime I would have the opportunity, I'd play a 335(recent vintage/GC), and always, I'd come away very happy with my $400, heavily weathered Washburn, Everything about it was better, not as good as, but BETTER, than the current 335's. I then got my hands on a '64, and found it to be excellent, although heavy, and of course, expensive. Still, I was very happy with my WB.

Then, my local guy had a 535 on the wall, and I knew very little about Heritage, but was blown away by its beauty, and pulled it down. THIS was entirely different from the current 335's I'd played, I mean, NO comparison. And the price was 1/3rd what the scratched up, poorly bound, thrown together axes at GC were listed at. Done.

I suspect this is a consistent experience. Perhaps the upside of all the TGP hoopla, is that guys like me are searching out the 535, after years of 335 lust/sticker shock, and realizing it's a no brainer.

Thanks, Heritage.

kid......... you nailed it man, had a 335 7o's model, bad years for gibson i read somewhere. still a decent guitar for 500.00 my recent purchase of a 535 really blew my mind. much better guitar in all respects. i guess it gets like the G&L thing, always being compared to leo's first efforts, when they should be left to stand alone for the good instruments they are if you know what i mean? play on man

Just sayin' :)

OK, here's a couple shots of my well worn trans-cherry 535. fits me like a comfortable old pair of jeans. The Chicago Cub "W" flag is flown in high hopes of a win today; may have to take it down.....

And her pretty, pretentious kid sister... Gibson ES-335 Memphis Reissue. If one had to go, it would be the Gibson, but I would like to upgrade the Scaller pickups in my 535 to antiquites or Seths. Either that, or get another 535 with that in it.

Just to get that bad taste out of your mouth, here's a Heritage semi-hollow with a different twist!

The H-535 is one beutiful guitar. I'm sure the older Gibson's are just as good if not better. However, the Epiphone Dot is not a half bad guitar either. But I'm not about to settle. I cannot say much about the new Gibson's as they are near impossible to get down from the high stands my local GC puts them on. Their employees don't like to do anything that requires effort.

seductive too....

look deep into my....er...top?

I'm in love.

That is a beautiful guitar, but I'm not sure that stand is good for the nitrocellulose finish. Can't tell for sure from the pics, but looks suspicious.
