skydog52 Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Picked her up yesterday. Just getting to know her. Not plugged in very resonant. Weighs a ton but knew it would. Seth Lovers, 1 3/4" nut, bound everywhere, large headstock, belly cut, 5 piece maple neck and sweet top. Will plug her in tomorrow.
golferwave Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 That's awesome!! Did Heritage do the truss rod cover?
FredZepp Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 VerY Nice... a great looker. The finish came out sweet. That binding ,especially the neck, looks great. Be sure to give us a shot of the 5pc neck and a close up of that neck binding, if you can. And a full shot, so we can see the headstock and body together..... More.. More.. (sorry for all the requests..I just love new Heritage porn )
kbp810 Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peek at her on my last trip to the factory; it was stunning then, and it's even more stunning now that it's finished! Well done my good sir, well done indeed
schundog Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Right ON, nice one, Paul. Nice bling, love the traps, I wish mine had them. +1 on them being heavy, but the tone is WORTH it! What's this "I'll plug in tomorrow crap," what time do people go bed in that retirement community you live in, 7:00 PM?! CRANK IT UP!! P.S. What number Heritage does this make? I know you've been building up an impressive collection!
donnie Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Skydog, I can't tell you how that new 170 moves me. It just leaves me speechless. And do tell about the truss rod cover. I think you and I have a lot in common-I'll try to post my tat for an avatar and you'll see...
fxdx99 Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Congrats, Paul - magnificent guitar, extremely nicely appointed. Is that an ebony fingerboard or dark rosewood? Lovely.
High Flying Bird Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 That is very nice... flamey. I love the ebony fret board.

skydog52 Posted April 7, 2011 Author Posted April 7, 2011 That's awesome!! Did Heritage do the truss rod cover? Thanks gwave. I had those made from. http://custominlay.com/ They really do some nice work.

I know you've been building up an impressive collection! Thanks Brian. I'm loving this thing. Had a busy day and didn't want to wake everybody up when I got home. And yes I am getting old.

Well done my good sir, well done indeed Thanks Brian. Gregg told me you guys made the trip on your order and I wondered if you got a preview. Marv showed me something very sweet on your build.
kbp810 Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Thanks Brian. Gregg told me you guys made the trip on your order and I wondered if you got a preview. Marv showed me something very sweet on your build. Would that by chance be a nifty chunk of maple laying around? Marv called me yesterday and said my top had arrived, Ren's going to be shooting me over a picture today - the way Marv described it was that it's both quilted and curly
kbp810 Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Thanks Fred. Here are some more shots. Love the way that 5 ply binding came out along the fretboard, it ties in so well with the binding around the body I hope that neck is a good indication of how mines going to turn out... because yours looks great!
Guest HRB853370 Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Awesome guitar Skydog-Duane Allman would be proud of you! Now we know the reason why the Blueburst went away-you had to make some room for the new baby! You sure kept this a secret!

Your build is going to be something very special. Talk about wood!
skydog52 Posted April 7, 2011 Author Posted April 7, 2011 Well I plugged her in this morning. Starting noodling around and something just wasn't right. Moving around on the fretboard and playing riffs I usually do and not hearing what I usually do. I don't know if anybody else is like this but when I get a new guitar from Heritage I am so busy looking at the beauty of the thing I forget about the mechanics of the guitar. I took a good look and noticed the pole pieces hadn't been adjusted at all, and this is the beauty of this sight. I remembered Gregg's (Steiner) post on pole adjustment. I used the diagram he posted and now this baby sings. Talk about sustain. This baby has the tone I was hoping for. Now I have to get everyone out of the house so I can shake the windows! Thanks to all of you for all your comments. Once again Heritage and the HOC comes through.
High Flying Bird Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 I remembered Gregg's (Steiner) post on pole adjustment. I used the diagram he posted and now this baby sings. How about posting a link for that post Paul. This was a very minor thing and really a matter of individual taste. I remember a few years ago there was a thread about the Heritage curse on custom builds. I described it as getting their peckers stuck in their bicycle chains. It seems like every custom build over the last two years has been almost perfect. I know mine was right on.
Steiner Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Skydog - Holy Frijoles! Bring her down here. I have a fullstack we can fire her through. If you like, we can even add a tinciture of reverb through the new KBP810 reverb unit! When are you going to open your own top-shelf, Heritage store? I want to be your first customer !!!
FredZepp Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Thanks for the additional porn... incredible. There are a lot of good things happening with that 170.
FredZepp Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 How about posting a link for that post Paul. This was a very minor thing and really a matter of individual taste. Here it is, Ron... Steiner explains Pickup Height Adjustment>>>>
dbetts41 Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Great looking guitar...congrats! I hope you can pull some Dickey/Duane licks out of her.
