NoNameBand Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Skydog, I can't help but keep looking at this beautiful guitar, you are so fortunate to have it turn out the way it did. Some things are just variable and this is at the top of desirable. There are 160 views of this thread and I think 100 of them are me.
Hfan Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 That 170 is beautiful. Never seen binding like that on a fingerboard. Congratulations.
koula901 Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Skydog, That is a beaut!!! congrats! You mentioned earlier, that it was a bit heavy - do you think it is because of the 3 piece neck, or just that all of their mahogany has been coming heavy in the past year or two?
big bob Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 WOW, welcome to the dark side my friend.. I love the options. Five piece neck is killer, and I'm a staunch supporter of the gut cut..and an ebony board is just right.. you did good.. I only see two, well three, minor problems.. 1. Strap button is in the wrong place, should be on the horn gretsch style.. 2. That thing is just crying for a hilly billy crowbar 3. Where is the third pup.. Really I would love to compare rides at psp..

Yes koula the combination of the maple neck, large headstock and I had them build the body thicker has a lot to do with it. It's a load. I'm afraid to weight it.

kbp810 Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Skydog - Holy Frijoles! Bring her down here. I have a fullstack we can fire her through. If you like, we can even add a tinciture of reverb through the new KBP810 reverb unit! When are you going to open your own top-shelf, Heritage store? I want to be your first customer !!! I think I'm going to be in your neighborhood that day so I hope you don't mind if I stop by too... Wait, what day is that going to be again?

Steiner Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Not fair.. Come on up Big Bob! Bring the Bird, he's going to be looking for something to occupy his time starting Monday. Skydog52 - As is the mighty, nearby river - Huron (you're on)!!! Man, it's a good life!
High Flying Bird Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Paul, when you come down to Jahjah, (Big House trip) bring that ax down wit you!!! Why don't the 3 of us find Liz Reed's grave and do a tribute? Will, don't ride your chopper down there.....
High Flying Bird Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Come on up Big Bob! Bring the Bird, he's going to be looking for something to occupy his time starting Monday. I have a plan for a workless Monday. By the rules of this forum I will have to share it with you through a PM.

kbp810 Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Ahh, the Huron River-spend many a Sunday afternoon canoeing on it in my youthful days... Done plenty of paddling on there myself! We are moving soon... but at the moment we live right on the Huron (well, one of the chain of lakes attached to the Huron).

You'd have to see it to believe how pretty it is there. It overlooks the river and is very close to Duane and Berry. I took my son there once and he was so overcome by it all he asked to be put there should anything happen to him. He was about 18, it weirded me out.

Last year and the year before I sat there for about an hour each time. Nice experience very peaceful. Next time I'm taking a guitar and play there.

Just looking down thinking that Duane, Gregg, Butch and Jaimoe stood in that spot some 41 years ago. Very eerie, yet calming. Yes, I vote we do a little jam at Liz's site. I am hoping I will have that song down pat by PSP4!
Steiner Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Oh cool, I used to see it outside my dorm room at EMU! Phelps and Best halls here...
big bob Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I bet that would sound great through a doumble colne
Steiner Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I bet you're right! As does one nefarious mahogany 575 custom, the Golden Eagle, 137, 150LW, 150, 530, AND 357... You were invited. We ate, drank, smoked, twiddled our thumbs waiting for you. There comes a time when one can no longer put off nirvana. Perhaps next time.
DetroitBlues Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Looks like a great guitar. I do have a couple questions. I've heard the nuts of new Heritages straight from the factory need work. Is that true on this one? Also, I noticed the fretboard looks odd where the frets are pressed in. Is that an illusion? Don't mean to be negative, it just something I'm wondering about if I ever get a chance to order my own custom Heritage.
