fred68 Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Hello everyone! A dealer in my area has a customized Eagle Classic that was a factory second. There is nothing in the finish that I find offensive. Some of the ebony fretboard is a little faded looking, perhaps that's what earned it its "2" status. Anyway, far more of an issue is the fact that the guitar has a crack in the top, which extends from the bottom of the bass side f-hole to the base of the top, a distance of about four or five inches. The finish is sunburst. The sales price is $1500 with case, "as is", final sale (no return). Is this a decent price? What would it cost to fix the crack? Thanks for any advice!
MartyGrass Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Personally, I would pass. I sold my EC on eBay last year for $1650 after two listings. It had some light finish scratches otherwise it was fine. There is an EC on CLs for the asking price of $1600 right now. Also, I bought one from GC a couple of months ago for $1600 with a few finish scratches. The repair of the crack may not be very involved. But this guitar is a second and it is cracked. The resale value is quite low.
enordlund Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Yeah, if you have patience, you will be much better off waiting for something else to pop up. A Heritage isn't a guitar that you should have any doubts about, and it should be one that you'll want to keep forever. Their guitars are amazing, and $1500 is also quite a lot for a cracked guitar. If there's anything that might bother you in the long run, you should definitely pass on it. Good luck finding your match! haha
Genericmusic Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 I would pass on it. Be patient. You'll get a better deal and better guitar for about the same amount of money.
