MartyGrass Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 How does Heritage get the maple cap to precisely fit the mahogany body on a H150? What filler, if any, is used?
brentrocks Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 i believe they glue the plank top onto the mahogany slab and then cut it out, carve it and route it...in that order....i think
GuitArtMan Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 The pieces are glued together before the body is carved.
MartyGrass Posted April 11, 2011 Author Posted April 11, 2011 Well, alright then. That makes sense. Thanks.
pegleg32 Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 So is the chambering done before the two are glued together on a chambered guitar?
Steiner Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 It has to be done first because the outside mahogany is solid through the guitar. Some (non-Heritage) chamber through the mahogany then put a maple cap on the front and back.
DetroitBlues Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 That's why the H-137's are flat... They are the same slabs of mohagany which maple caps are glued on. That's why those are so thin compared to H-140's or H-150's...
guitarnut1 Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Does any one of you happen to know the chambering pattern used on 150s? Thanks
