Guest HRB853370 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Nice!!! I think the category should be musically speaking, but NICE!!!
Gitfiddler Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Simply amazing and very beautifully done. I see why you decided to hold onto that 550.
Horace Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Thanks for posting. I really enjoyed listening to it. The arrangement was out of this world! Tal
SteveKrell Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 An H-550 at 25.5 scale thats some sweet streaches,Sheets i will steal that slidey octave move, you do have a chord melody classic going here so glad you posted. good hands, super rythm, great melodic sense.... i liked it.....Steve
FredZepp Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Very Nice... A great example of great tones from a 550 and a great arrangement. very good post.
smurph1 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Great Job, Sheets!! Loved the arrangement, and that TONE!!! wish I could fingerpick like that..It sounds so much better than a flatpick..Gives me a goal to shoot for..Thanks!!
Jazzpunk Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Very cool! I think this is the first heavy duty jazz demo of a 550 on youtube. That's a good thing!
bebove64 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 bravo, bravissimo! congrats thanks for posting Jack! P.s. have you ever tried wegen picks?
Jazzpunk Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Nice!!! I think the category should be musically speaking, but NICE!!! Might be a good idea to leave videos like this in the open forum. That way potential Heritage customers who lurk but are not HOC members will be able to view them as well!

I wish my fingers could hit spans like that (I can't do the splits either!)
sheetsofsound Posted April 14, 2011 Author Posted April 14, 2011 bravo, bravissimo! congrats thanks for posting Jack! P.s. have you ever tried wegen picks? thanks . I have not tried the wegen picks. The only semi-boutique pick I have tried is the clayton although I guess you could call the bumble bee thumbpicks I use boutique. i'd love to try the wegen. The claytons sound great but even after drilling 3 holes in them I still find that they slip too much.
chico Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 very inspiring. great way to wake up this morn. thanks for sharing this. love to hear what you could do with something like What A Wonderful World..

I've been trying a couple of WPS for 5 months(3.5 mm thick, 30 mm long and 26 mm wide),they're really amazing!you can get a wonderful rich, warm mellow sound from all your guitars!Well the price is high, perhaps too high, but don't forget that they're handmade and ...Both sides have grooves for grip, and the thumb side is concaved with grooves; in fact I don't find that they slip ! http://www.wegenpicks.com/
MartyGrass Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I have tried a few small jazz picks but have returned to a more conventional size. What is the advantage of the smaller pick?

sheetsofsound Posted April 14, 2011 Author Posted April 14, 2011 acetal rounded triangle (3 picks in one) but frankly they're too slippery. I love the tone but the way I hold the pick is flawed and the acetal moves around too much so I'm back to the fender. I prefer the actual celluoid as opposed to plastic but it's harder and harder to get.
Doug Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 That's a cool arrangement. Interestingly enough, I just watched a video of Jeff Beck playing this same song yesterday.

My Wegen picks have an average size, not too small, not too big; in my opinion it's only up to you.I tried smaller picks without having any kind of advantage.during my speed studies I always keep my pick with three fingers (TH,1,2).

I am amazed at all the different ways people hold picks.
