SouthpawGuy Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 ACB = antique cherry burst. And a nice one it is too !!!
DetroitBlues Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 ACB = antique cherry burst. And a nice one it is too !!! Bingo! Kind of sucks though because I'm changing my original '85 ACB to Amber to an Amber finish. At least the forum has the proof that I actually changed the color and not swapped cavity covers....

You have any recommandations of how to remove the finish? As it is nitro, could be done with solvents? Guess the problem is the binding, which should remain intact.
fxdx99 Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Yikes, validates that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. I think that's a gorgeous guitar and wouldn't think of changing the finish. Wouldn't it be cheaper/easier to find a guitar in the finish you like?

NoNameBand Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Dang, that thing is gorgeous!!! It just SCREAMS vintage K-zoo era!!! Hey, it's your guitar, but I love the finish. Me too, it's Classic. Thats what all of the most significant Les Pauls of the day looked like.

Will keep the colour as it is. Definitly. By the way: Sound is fantastic, different than my gibbis, much more clearer and with more mids. Love it/her.

Give us more pics if you have the chance.... Seymour Duncan '59 pickups in this one?
jeffbeck Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 Great ! Give us more pics if you have the chance.... Seymour Duncan '59 pickups in this one? Hi Fred. I try to load some more pictures now, but dont know other than attach them. And YES: Seymour Duncan SH1 and SH4 pups. On the foto is also the Les Paul I made and finished exactly the day, the Heritage arrived. What a conicidence. I carried them both to the studio to check. The Heritage has a really very distinctiv sound, way different from the rest of the gibbis Les Paul. More clear, more articulated, more vivid. Friend of mine played it - although he never played Les Pauls before, he's Stratocaster-player - and appreciated the sound very much. He didn't like gibbis, but liked the Heritage !! I now cleaned it, made a better setup and fixed the pickup surround. Now I do understand, why the Heritage is such a beloved guitar. I think, they deserve it.
FredZepp Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Thanks for the pics... That is a sweet 150. And an interesting Les Paul also, it is great that you made it yourself. I like your comment that your friend, a strat player, liked the Heritage tone . He has good taste.
yoslate Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Now I do understand, why the Heritage is such a beloved guitar. I think, they deserve it. There goes another one...!
DetroitBlues Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 My original H-140 has a headstock repair. With all the other bumps and bruises, it won't hurt the value changing the color. If only my luthier would stop taking so much time. I swear KBP810 H-157 will be finished before mine.
