jrfreed Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Questions always come up regarding the p90 sound so I though I would just record a simple tune with my 530 in between honey-do items. Rig is just guitar (volume on 8) to a vintage Ampeg. Recorded using the built in camera and mic on my mac, but gives you the idea...forgive a few bobbles I had http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OpuQjcjzQU
jrfreed Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 Movie had no sound...so having to troubleshoot : / Will repost with the proper link shortly
pegleg32 Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Hey JR, like it a lot. The 530 with P-90's is really cool.
Jazzpunk Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 The creme colored dog ears look sweet against the OSB finish!
jrfreed Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 The creme colored dog ears look sweet against the OSB finish! Yeah it really sets off the rest of the binding too. Heritage did a great job matching the binding to the covers and making it all flow together. I get lots of compliments on the guitar...not so much on the playing! HAHA!
brentrocks Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 my heads a poppin...feets a tappin great tone there!!!
jrfreed Posted April 21, 2011 Author Posted April 21, 2011 Very nice. What strings do you use? GHS brite flat 11's (basically a ground wound where they grind the tops off the windings). I find they are the perfect string to use on the 530 for jazz...flats are too dead and round wounds are a bit too bright. GHS is based in Battle Creek which is right up the road from Kalamazoo so I'd rather use them instead of d'addario etc
Dick Seacup Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Fantastic. That's how I wish I could play. Keep posting clips, man! Love the guitar, too.
FredZepp Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 NICE Tone.. it sounds great.. I enjoyed it alot.

yoslate Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Big Tone! Dig that gorgeous, round tone! Nice lines, too. That amp a Gemini? Thanks for the post!
schundog Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Allow me to add my kudos; Great jazz tune, playing, and guitar! I gotta get my 525 down more often to use when I TRY to learn jazz; I primarily use it for the snarly P90 thing it does with overdrive, but my 137 does THAT better, so.... no excuses. Thanks for the motivation!
strings Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 very cool bro, making great tones. maybe some day i'll be there............

Yep 1965 Gemini II It was all original, but got sick of getting shocked so I had the 2-prong plug changed out Awesome awesome awesome jazz amp...as long as you dont mind lugging that beast around!
conorb Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 That sounds great; well done! A nice big and warm tone. conorb
