banjomania Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 hi to all. i'm new to the club but sure am glad there's a club to join. i have just discovered heritage guitars (where have i been)? i am a flatpicker who loves jazz but have never played much of it. i play tony rice stuff mostly and i also am a banjo player for 40 years. so i think i have a good chance at learning a little jazz. i have a h575 that is really pretty but i would really like to have an eagle classic or a super eagle. age doesn't matter, and condition just needs to be normal. can anyone help me? i don't have 4k or 5k so let's dont go there. but if you have an old one for sale or know where one is, i would really appreciate help. thanks
H Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Hi banjomania, welcome to the HOC There's a trading section on the site where members put instruments and equipment of all brands up for sale/trade/want and a separate bit where we keep track of Heritage guitars for sale on eBay, Craigslist, etc. Good luck Oh, and let's see some pics of your 575!
Hfan Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Welcome to the club. I'd love to learn a little banjo. Picked one up once and I was able to get something slightly musical going. Basicly an open tuning deal and if you can finger pick you can get started? Also see you are a shotgun fan, I will remember not to piss you off. Seriously, like H said, check out the for sale section. Lots of good honest folks to deal with here in my opinion anyway. Keep an eye on your local craigs list, Guitar Denter etc as well, you never know. There some dealers around the country that sell used as well some members use a few quite often I believe.
banjomania Posted May 1, 2011 Author Posted May 1, 2011 thanks for the replies. yeah i found the f/s section. figured it was here somewhere. i bought a chord chart with fifteen million chords on it, now to piece them together and then to make it sound like they belong there, ha. i've been playing banjo since age 8 or 9, play a lot of chromatic when it calls for it. its much more important to be tasteful. i flatpick or fingerpick guitar on tunes like forked deer, sally gooden, salt creek. so i feel i have the POTENTIAL to learn some jazzy stuff. i know a few chords. but it is so hard to get out of the box where i am used to living! but man these archtops are soooooo gorgeous! i like to look at em if nothing else!
sheetsofsound Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 i have one I'm considering selling. since the picture was taken, i had an L5 style pickguard installed. I can take some updated pix if you're interested. email / pm me if interested.
