je00143 Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Guitarplayer.com posted this today - Mimi is wailing on a 575 through a Twin Reverb. http://www.guitarplayer.com/ArtistVideo.aspx?bctid=900278353001
FredZepp Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 That's pretty cool. It's too bad that we can't see the Heritage logo on the headstock during the vid... it sounds quite nice. It would be great for people to see the brand.
Jazzpunk Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 This is a great DVD! You can pick it up off of her website: http://www.mimifoxjazzguitar.com/store.html Makes me miss my 575!
peteraltongreen Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 A great guitar through a great amp,and a great player too.I've used my 575 through my Dual Showman amp top & 12 x 12" Fender cab.It always sounds great.I only topped it in 1968 with an L5 ( Kalamazoo made ) & Showman 2 x 15" cab,and a Bandmaster head.Instant Wes ! Peter Alton Green ( The right hand thumb IS relevant,Wes fans take note ! )
Flat Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Is that a maple 575? The side looks a little like mahogany to me. Anybody know? Did Heritage ever make mahogany 575s?
Genericmusic Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 My son studied with Mimi Fox at the University of California at Berkely. She did wonders with helping him develop his left hand technique. Great person and great guitar player.
barrymclark Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Man that woman can PLAY! Never get sick of her feel for tunes.

bolero Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 wow those guys are great!! I see she uses my fave tuner, the intellitouch PT-10
Mikenov Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 That was very cool . not my cup of tea but very cool. And yeah, the mouth thing. I did pretty much stare at her face the entire time wondering what she was saying. My guess was, Be bop bop da bop da bop da bop.... ect. She had a plan for sure. Hell, the bass player did it during his solo too. I think it's just a Jazz thing.

My guess was, Be bop bop da bop da bop da bop.... ect. She had a plan for sure. I think it's just a Jazz thing. Watch Vince in the PSPIII videos. He does it, too, though not as pronounced. I think players who are really one with the instrument and the music (in a way I certainly am not) will "sing" the lines as they play them. She could probably scat any solo she plays, as she plays it, note for note. She's that dialed in to the instrument and what she's doing with it.
Kuz Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Is that a maple 575? The side looks a little like mahogany to me. Anybody know? Did Heritage ever make mahogany 575s? I am not sure if the back & rims are Mahogany (usually they are Maple) but the sound board is Spruce on her 575. Most 575s are solid Maple back & rims and Solid Maple sound board. The Spruce sound board is a custom option.
GrandpaLarry Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 She is so-o smooth. What a gas to jam with her. . .if I had the chops!
Flat Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Thanks for the info, Kuz. My own H575 is a semi-custom* all-maple. Looks a bit like the one in your signature. Really a wonderful instrument. I would love to try a mahogany/spruce one someday, just to hear the differences. I've since noticed that one poster upthread, tsp17, has a mahogany body 575 according to his sig.) (*semi-custom in that it has block inlays and neck binding; but not an official "575 Custom" in that the headstock does not have binding, and maybe some other differences.) Anyway, thanks for your reply!
