MartyGrass Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Arrived safe and sound. Excellent condition Golden Eagle with no cutaway. The neck is medium and oh, so fine. It seems to be a little louder with more depth (bass) acoustically than my Johnny Smith, which has similar dimension but a cutaway. However this has round wound strings too. I appreciate that the jack is on the side. Here's the pics. It reminds me of a certain H157.
Gitfiddler Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Mark~ I'm sorry, but that is simply a BAD A$$ Eagle!
FredZepp Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 We knew that this one would be pretty cool... and it is. I bet that it has a nice acoustic sound also. I love the look!
Kuz Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 OK, with that incredible guitar..... you need to pawn that Johnny Smith off to me!!!! Great snag my friend!!!
MartyGrass Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 You guys are just saying those nice things 'cause their true. Heritage did a very good job on this one.
MartyGrass Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 is that a 23.5 scale? That would be interesting! No, it's 25.5".
Kuz Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 MG, I noticed you politely declined my "pawning the Johnny Smith" to me.... Oh, well a man can only try!!!!!
MartyGrass Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 I still have an abnormal attachment to the JS. As a kid my guitar teacher had one and he wouldn't let me play it. The truth is I was probably too scared to touch it, fearing I'd ding it or worse.
schundog Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Enjoy your new Archtop, Mark; I for one am feeling both blessed and cursed at the same time; Blessed that I don't have GAS for these types of expensive instruments, as I don't really play jazz, and cursed that that lack of GAS keeps me from OWNING one or more of these incredible works of art! Play in Good Health, man.

Anothersixstringer Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Awesome!!!! I didn't know that Heritage would build a non cutaway archtop, now I have something to look up to for my next, imminent GAS attack. Congratulations on that beautiful, classy instrument !
skydog52 Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Congrats Mark. Another fine addition to a great collection. Enjoy!
DetroitBlues Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Never been much of a fan of the full hollow body archtops, but that one is really cool! Is that an active pickup?
MartyGrass Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 Never been much of a fan of the full hollow body archtops, but that one is really cool! Is that an active pickup? Passive humbucker.
heritagefan7 Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 The guitars I enjoy playing the most are the ones I'm least afraid of dinging. Beautiful guitar. I so agree abt the least afrad of dinging thing. Black just really stands out. Congrats.
RhoadsScholar Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 That looks like a good companion for your H157. Love those abalone inlays. Nice score.
conorb Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Wow, wow, wow!!!! That is amazing. Congratulations. conorb
