kbp810 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Just got back from another visit to Parsons Street, took a road trip with Skydog. Got to be there as Marv rolled my neck, so got to make sure it felt just right! Went over specs and finishes again; I decided I am sticking with the Vintage Wine Burst on the top, but going to keep it lighter then the typical VWB to make sure all the wood shows through. At the recomendation of Marv, going with Antique Natural for the neck to help show off the curly maple and variation between the Mahogany strips. Here are a few updated pics of the top and neck: Oh yeah, did I mention the cupids bow before?
FredZepp Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Man.. man... man.. That is freakin' awesome. I like the idea of making the finish a bit lighter, don't hide that top. It's coming together nicely... real nicely. This will be great.. great job with the specs.
pegleg32 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I feel a major "Oh Boy" coming on!! Very nice indeed.
Kuz Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 That guitar is incredible, filthy, off-the-hook! Are you coming to PSP4? I would love to see that guitar!!!!!!
kbp810 Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 That guitar is incredible, filthy, off-the-hook! Are you coming to PSP4? I would love to see that guitar!!!!!! But of course, me and this pretty little lady will be there!
FredZepp Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I boosted the grain on the first pic for fun..... so we can see the grain.
Steiner Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Here are a few updated pics of the top and neck: Oh yeah, did I mention the cupids bow before? I can hear Mr, Lamb saying: "Once we set the neck, we'll cut it about here..." I just have one thing to say... HOLY SHIT!!!
NoNameBand Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Brian, that is going to be spectacular. I love the neck detail at the foot of the neck as well as the inlays and binding. You must be very excited. Rock on
fxdx99 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Really special, Brian. That's gotta be a lot of fun visiing and seeing it in progress like that. Great attention to detail in your specs.
Spectrum13 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 That top is on ACID! How long till she comes home and are you going back to take more pictures soon?
mtpatty Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Man that thing is gonna be killer! Sho' nuff bad to the bone! Please post pics when done! Also, what pickups are you thinking?
kbp810 Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 Man that thing is gonna be killer! Sho' nuff bad to the bone! Please post pics when done! Also, what pickups are you thinking? Pickups are going to be triple mini's from Tom Short - he made up a custom set for me. How long till she comes home and are you going back to take more pictures soon? They should be setting the neck and doing the pup routing soon, so hopefully not too much longer Might try and sneak off for another trip when it comes time to apply the finish, if so, more pics will certainly be posted - else, pics of course will be a plenty once she's done. I can hear Mr, Lamb saying: "Once we set the neck, we'll cut it about here..." Yep, those were just about his exact words!
smurph1 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 That top is on ACID! How long till she comes home and are you going back to take more pictures soon? LOL!!
MartyGrass Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Well, I'm impressed! Did you make any specifications on the weight? Looking good!
TalismanRich Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Brian, it looks great. I like the appointments you've chosen for the neck. I think a guitar should have a little bling to it! Should be killer when they finish it.
schundog Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Why am "I" getting so excited about "your" guitar?! Oh yeah, because, as HOC bretheren, we "get" it. That's going to be one special piece, Brian. The waiting would DEFINITELY be the hardest part!
skydog52 Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Had a good time with Brian on this trip. Always fun going to our guitar heaven. You think that top looks good in the picture, wait until you see it in person! That's one of the finest ones I've seen.
Hfan Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Beautiful top, matched perfectly. You guys are lucky to be that close to Heritage.
