skydog52 Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 As Brian (KBP810) stated we made the trip to our favorite place on Parsons St. Marv colored a H-150 I had on order. I gave him some pictures but he asked me to come and verify what I was looking for. I took some pictures with my phone but they didn't turn out that well. It was very gracious for him to ask me to witness the shading and you wouldn't believe how excited I got while watching a master at work on my own guitar. And he nailed it. Exactly what I wanted!

You should have Brian post the pics of it. It was incredible to see the pics. Must of been priceless to see it in action!
skydog52 Posted May 12, 2011 Author Posted May 12, 2011 Try it again. The pictures don't do it justice but what an experience!
kbp810 Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 You should have Brian post the pics of it. It was incredible to see the pics. Must of been priceless to see it in action! I agree, Brian should posts some pics of it! It was amazing to witness - you could tell it was the work of someone who had been doing it for 50+ years; he made it look quick and nearly effortless, yet the end result was absolutely amazing
FredZepp Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Very ,very cool pics... Simply Classic. I want to go to Kalamazoo..... Incredible.
fxdx99 Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 AAAAHHH... Can't stand it! These threads make me want a new guitar SO BAD! You both have gorgeous guitars coming along nicely. Congrats!
111518 Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I've always thought hand spraying a sunburst finish was about as cool as it got --but watching a vet spray your guitar ...how cool is that?
skydog52 Posted May 12, 2011 Author Posted May 12, 2011 Thanks Brian. I didn't even know you where taking pictures. Cool!!!! I agree, Brian should posts some pics of it! It was amazing to witness - you could tell it was the work of someone who had been doing it for 50+ years; he made it look quick and nearly effortless, yet the end result was absolutely amazing
Spectrum13 Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Very cool. How long did that take? I thought is would be days and then clear coats after it drys.
skydog52 Posted May 12, 2011 Author Posted May 12, 2011 Very cool. How long did that take? I thought is would be days and then clear coats after it drys. It took Marv about 20 minutes tops. What a master. Clear coat comes a lot later.
skydog52 Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 I feel like I'm looking at an ultrasound! I agree with you koula. I keep looking at those pictures and get all excited again. I've got to settle down.
DetroitBlues Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Very strange, when I saw the post in the office, there were no pics. Now there are.... strange.
High Flying Bird Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 I agree with you koula. I keep looking at those pictures and get all excited again. I've got to settle down. That is one fine looking finish. There is always something to see down at the Heritage plant.
DetroitBlues Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Its hard looking at the photo's, but the red doesn't seem to be clownburst red like my H-140 was. Or is it just the natural lighting making it appear less cherry red?
schundog Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 definitely a sweet lookin' 150 in the works, Paul! Can't wait to see the finished product. How cool when, years from now, with that guitar on your lap, maybe a little scuffed and scarred from years of loving use, you can whip out pictures of this new sweetheart coming to life!
donnie Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 I knew our Heritage guitars were handmade but I've never been to the plant to actually see it; pics like these are likely to be as close as I'll get to the real process. Anyway, when I see the reality of stuff like this it kinda makes me fell bad when I get pissy over finish imperfections. What a throwback to time this is-thanks so much for posting!
DetroitBlues Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Looking at the pics for the hundredth time, I noticed the absence of binding. Is it because the binding needs to be scrapped or is there no binding?

skydog52 Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 Needs to be scrapped - it's there My guitar is not being scrapped is it? Maybe scraped. Actually Marv said that's the next step. Of many steps I'm sure.
