duaneallen Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 This is the next model that I'm jonesing for. I am just absolutely smitten with ALL of my Heritages right now. My main axes for jazz have been my 535 and my 575. After many years of searching and spending money, I know that Heritage gives me the sound that I am looking for. my new 150 is the best Les Paul that I've ever owned, and I've had a few nice ones! I really sound like a dork here, but I guess that I'm in the right place. I would love to check out a 530, that would be killer axe! Has anyone here seen one with the small block inlays, like the old 330s? Show me watch a got!
koula901 Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 ah, yes, the one with the unusual pickguard. Marty, is a 530 like a 535 but without the center block?
brentrocks Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 I would definitely recommend an H 530. I love mine!
Gitfiddler Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 MartyGrass~ That is one cool lookin' 530!! Brent! That red girl is a keeper! So keep her! This is mine. It came with a certificate of auth. signed by all of the Heritage folks, as well as a signed label, confirming it was the first ever production h-530. (It is not as yellow in the mid section as the photo shows. The sunlight brightened it up quite a bit...but still a pretty effect)
donnie Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 ah, yes, the one with the unusual pickguard. Marty, is a 530 like a 535 but without the center block? I'd love to hear the answer to this one too. Also, not to hijack, but other than the double cutaways, what the difference between a 530 and a 525? Confused minds would love to know!
Jazzpunk Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 This is not your father's ES-330! SO cool! I have a 330 so can't post it here...
MartyGrass Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 ah, yes, the one with the unusual pickguard. Marty, is a 530 like a 535 but without the center block? It's a full hollowbody but thin. There is reinforcement under the bridge but not a centerblock. If you don't like your 535 feedback, you'd be crying with a 530. The 525 is similar to the 530 but has a shorter fretboard (20 frets), the neck joins at a lower fret, and is a single cutaway. They say that enhances tone in the 525. Also the 525 is about 1/2" thicker, which also may improve tone. The 530 is very light.
Jazzpunk Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 I choose my 525 if I am going to be playing jazz and blues. I choose my 330 if I am going to be playing funk and blues. The 330 can cover jazz as well (see Grant Green!) but the 525 edges it out for jazz imo. I just switched to flat wounds on my 525 but stripped a tuner in the process so have yet to decide if I dig the change or if I'll go back to round wounds.

The main differences between the old ES330 and H530 is a stronger neck joint and better tuners in the Heritage. I can't say how Gibson has improved or upgraded the ES330 reissues, but the tuners look better than before.

smurph1 Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 You did it again. A Knock out. +1..Gotta Love the trapeze tailpiece..
H Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 There's a difference in where the neck joins. The late sixties 330 neck also joins the body at the 19th fret. Earlier ones, like your pic, joined at the 16th. I'd still have a 530 over a 330 if I had the choice.
FredZepp Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 That's a great looking 530 there, MartyGrass... Man, that seems like a great one to play... ( Brents red one w P-90s also...)

Horace Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 ah, yes, the one with the unusual pickguard. Marty, is a 530 like a 535 but without the center block? Also, a stock 530 comes with P90 pickups and a stock 535 comes with humbuckers, I believe. Horace
MartyGrass Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Also, a stock 530 comes with P90 pickups and a stock 535 comes with humbuckers, I believe. Horace Correct. Most 530s do not have PGs and do have trap TPs. But everything is negotiable.
Gitfiddler Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 DuaneAllen asked if anyone had a 530 with small block inlays. I'm not aware of one ordered like the classic model it one-ups, but here is a lefty version that has standard sized pearl block inlays: Also, it is interesting that on the Heritage website, they have this full hollow guitar listed as a 'semi hollow' in error. Doh! Heritage H-530 'Semi Hollow'??

Doh! Since we're mentioning bloopers, the H170 dimensions have not been updated. I sent the webmaster this info last year but it remains outdated. Body Size : Rim Thickness - 1 1/2” Body Width - 12 1/2” Body Length - 17 1/4”

eljay Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 You will have to find a used one as they are not in the current production lineup! they are a hollowbody: http://heritageguitar.com/models/h530trchp90_specs.html
Guest HRB853370 Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 You will have to find a used one as they are not in the current production lineup! Ooops my bad, they look like a semi like a 535
DetroitBlues Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 You will have to find a used one as they are not in the current production lineup! Neither is a H-357. Doesn't mean you can't custom order one!
