schley Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 hello Does anyone happen to know if there's a "decent" Heritage dealer around the Kalamazoo area? (And when I say "decent," I'm mostly concerned with selection. A courteous and knowledgeable sales staff would be a nice little bonus, but I'm not expecting miracles.) The Heritage website lists (I think) three dealers around there. Can't find very much inventory information on line about these particular stores. I just wanted to see if I could get a little more informed before I start making phone calls. I live about two hours away (between Ann Arbor & Detroit) and I'm wondering if it would be worth it to drive that far (gasoline prices aside). thanks
cosmikdebriis Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 I'm no student of American geography, what with being English.... ;D But I thought Brent lived that way.... ??? And if anyone should know of a good H Dealer... He should... ;D Pm Brentrocks... He's usually on the forum every day but recently he's not been well... Bless him... :-*

With my experience the state of Michigan does not have a dealer with a decent inventoryof Heritage. I have ordered all mine. I recently stopped by Herb David in Ann Arbor and they only had a few in stock and they were all pre shut down vintage. I ordered one guitar from Elderly in Lansing and ordered two from The Music Man in Brighton. Mike at the Music Man is a good guy. Good luck.
brentrocks Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 i dont think there really is one that has good inventory....but i buy used so i dont look for stores/inventory
yoslate Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 If inventory is the issue, I don't know how one does better than Jay Wolfe...in Jupiter, Florida. Yeah, I know, ordering sight unseen..., but there are numerous testimonials on the HOC to how easy Jay and Graham, his product specialist, are to deal with. And Jay does seem to have a lot of sway in Kalamazoo, as he is Heritage's largest dealer. He seems to get the pick of the litter. Worth looking into! His G-base inventory site is Grade AAA guitar porn! http://wolfeguitars.com/index.htm

Whenever I'm in Ann Arbor, I pop by Herb's (usually on my way to Seva). Somehow it surprises me that he has any Heritage guitars at all. I'm not confident his prices would be competitive though.
skydog52 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I looked on Herb David sight and they have 5 guitars on the website. Elderly had 8 on the website. Stay with the forum. They are always selling them. Just don't understand.
schley Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 Thanks, everybody. I checked Herb David and Elderly's online inventory before I posted here. I wasn't lovin' anything they had. I'm kinda picky. And I'd already discovered that Jay Wolfe has a selection that can't be beat. I've been drooling over his stuff on Gbase for a while now. It's just kind of frustrating that I live two hours away from the FACTORY, but if I'm probably gonna have to get my guitar shipped all the way from JUPITER!! Oh well. That's not Jay's fault. I wouldn't wish a Michigan winter on anybody. Anyway, I emailed Wolfe Guitars to request info on five that caught my eye (three 575's, one 550, and an Eagle Classic). Can't wait to stop researching and start PLAYING!
Thundersteel Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 One good thing about you being in Michgan, and Jay in Florida--you won't have to pay any sales tax!
jgauker Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Is Good News Music still around in Traverse City? That is where I bought my Heritage back in 1989. At that time they had a decent number of Heritages in stock.
JohnCovach Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Good News Music--I used to go in that place all the time when I taught at Interlochen back in the late 80s. I haven't been up to TC for many years, though.
Dick Seacup Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Hey, did we already welcome Schleyand JGauker to the Club? It's getting to where I'm losing track of whether or not I've welcomed the new members. LOL If we haven't...Welcome to the Club!
yoslate Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 I was remiss, as well! Sorry, guys! A hearty welcome to both schley and jgauker. As the membership continues to grow, we can't take new folk for granted. Show us what you've got, fellas.... :this_thread_is_useless_withou
schley Posted April 25, 2008 Author Posted April 25, 2008 :this_thread_is_useless_withou O-key-doke. I've got my first Heritage on the way from Wolfe (an Eagle Classic in Dark Almond Burst)! I don't know how long the listing is going to stay up on Gbase (they've already marked it "SOLD"). Here's the link: http://www.gbase.com/Stores/Gear/GearDetai...px?Item=1698751 I can post the pictures elsewhere if the listing comes down and people still want to see it.
Thundersteel Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Schweet! Nice flame on that one! Welcome to the club!

Now THIS is one very unusual but cool photo from Jay and Graham!! 8)
wingnut1 Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 We have a shared photobucket page that you should post pictures into so people can see.
yoslate Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 O-key-doke. I've got my first Heritage on the way from Wolfe (an Eagle Classic in Dark Almond Burst)! Lovely choice! I've had a Super Eagle (Yep...in almondburst!) on order through Jay for almost a year. There have been a few times, during the Parsons Street shutdown for example, when it wasn't looking too promising. So I had begun eyeballing pieces on Jay's G-base, just in case.... Yours was one I'd been considering! Great looking guitar! I'll be anxious to hear what you think after a test drive! Congratulations, schley!!
