. . . the elongated neck tenon is also standard on the 530, 535 and 555 model guitars. It goes all the way into the neck pup cavity . . just like Gibson. Marv will NOT however, put it on a guitar designated with soap bar P90s. He said he doesn't like that you can see it . . . because the soap bar P90s don't have a mounting ring to hide it. He will and does put it on guitars designated with dog ear P90s . . . because the pup housing hides it.

Well I'm not certifying veracity, but my "birdie" just got through telling me it's been on all their H150's for more than a year now, but not on the hollow/semi-hollowbdies.

I can't imagine them not touting it as competitive advantage for themselves (real or imaginary) but there you go!

I highly doubt that considering the first "long neck tenon" 150s just got made. I will check in and see if you are right.

I am not trying to one-up anyone, or show how much I am in the know... again, I could careless. But I know others do care and this is the reason why I am posting.

I'd love to hear what you find.

I was only parroting what I had just been told by a respected Heritage retail rep.

We might be talking about the same guy. If so, he called me yesterday to say they just finished the first run of Long Neck Tenon 150s and started some semis.

I just e-mailed him, so we will know in a day or two.

You might be missing the point or at least my point anyway. I don't think there's a whit's difference in tone. It's bragging rights, having the newest and greatest, and most importantly, resale value should you be so inclined.

I see what your sayin, and I can respect that. But most folks that jump on these are going to be sold on the notion that these tennons are what made the 59's ect so special and infact it was the musician's that happened to like that particular sunset burst that gave them those unbelievable sounds and riffs. Those same guys can make a 2011 micro short tennon lespaul sound the same as they do thier antiques.... Thats all im saying..

OK, here is the word. Discussions over Heritage's version of the Long Neck Tenon occurred right at the time of PSP3 (Early August). No further thought occurred over it, because Heritage never said anything about making it official. The best guess is that they have been building the Long Neck Tenons as standard issue for the last couple of months (according to the "Birdie"). It is not a copy of Gibson's Long Tenon which is only used in their Cust Shop stuff (the other Gibbies use short Tenons).

So bottom line, in typical Heritage fashion with no fanfare or announcement, best guess is the long Tenons have been in place for a few months (but theoretically they could have started some as early as last August).

Thanks Donnie for the info which lead to better clarification (if clarification is possible at Heritage!!)

Man, I LOVE Heritage... no fanfare... think they found another way that could be better and they just do it!!!

You know, this is something that is being celebrated by people other than those of us at this web site - at best. If so many of us don't give a damn here why was it made into such a big issue?

I think this "lil' birdie" should post on this topic and let us know exactly why it is such a big deal. Why is everything so hush, hush, Kuz?

If this is a company secret why did you leak it? If it isn't a company secret why don't you let us know where you got this news from?

Dammit Janet!!!

Soooooooooo glad to own my four, few, precious, Heritage guitars, and I love them the way they came, one at a time, my secondhand mail order brides, all of 'em...sing so sweetly, thank you Parsons Street men and the girl for what left your loving hands...for what they remain as...

being... the way they "are" plugged in, the way they look, the way they are built, the way they are finished. I remember a few years ago when I bought my first Heritage, a 555 Antique Natural, (my camera's busted)...remembering that the seller described it as having a long neck tenon, like four years ago I think.

BFD.

Screw the tenons talk, build finger calluses instead.

Peace, Rhythm, Tone.

Not a company secret at all, quite the contrary. I was asked if HOC members would like to know about a new feature of Heritage guitars and I said "yes" of course. I was then asked if I would like to post it here.

I feel some my really like the new feature, others may careless. I am in the later, but I am always interested in what is going on at Parson's St.

wow that's cool, and makes sense to cater to a large population of guitarists who think that's a big deal

myself I could care less about the tenon: I think improving ones musical ability has a more tangible difference on how you sound

good for Heritage though

how far in do the tenons on the 535's normally go? I thought that on most of the doublecuts they'd already been using tenons that went into the pickup cavity. on the 535 there's only about an inch from the neck joint to the edge of the neck pickup.

I can't answer that. I never cared to check. Sorry for the poor answer. Again, I am just reporting what a Heritage Rep has told me, my "whatever length" Heritage tenons sound great, but some people really do care about this stuff.

If you go to PSP4 you can ask (I am sure they will show you) or if you can't make it I can ask in your behalf.

I agree. Jimmy Page can play my Tokai, I will play his 59, and he is still going to make me look rubbish.

Do lefty guitars come with lefty tenons ? :music_mini2::icon_flower:

I think it's a saw, or maybe something to do with broadband. Broadband comes in sunburst now......

looking forward to the answer as my 150 is being finished now. not that it matters much, just nice to know.

Well, with the latest info being stated from the rep that they HAVE been making long neck tenons for a couple months now, I would say the chances are very likely it WILL have a long neck tenon.

Yeah, i saw that but wasn't there some conflicting info? Maybe I misunderstood.

I hope everyone is having a nice holiday. Let's all play at least one tune today in memory of, and thanks to, our fallen protectors of freedom and heroes.
