jamison162 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Though I'de try a standard LP pickguard but the top whole doesn't match up like I thought it would. Anyone else have this issue, or am I a one off? What did you end up doing, drilling a new hole anyway?
Mikenov Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I have not replaced my heritage pickguard. The one it came with looks fine to me.
jamison162 Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 It's not bad, but on my Goldtop it's started to look a little girly to me. I need a change.
Gitfiddler Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 The G-Brand pickguards do not line up with Heritage gits. You might send a PM to HOC member Cyroman. He made one for my H150 that is very nice.
Thundersteel Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 You can always leave the pickguard off, if you want to.
cod65 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I ordered a 158 thru Jay and asked for a pickguard. option. I think jay probably added it on himself in Fla. - not sure if it's a wood guard- only looks woody on the backside- in the end I realized I was 'holding' my guitar back by covering one of the f-holes, so took it off and am much happier. But this is a semi-hollow, mind you.
jamison162 Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 There is a scratch under it, from the factory I assume, not bad but noticable. I did buy it new, but it wasn't spotless. Jay's puts G-guards on theirs quite often, I wonder how they line it up. I guess the G-guard will cover the stock Heritage PG screw hole and vice-versa.
cosmikdebriis Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I've been making my own by laminating some Maple veneer I got cheap. With a little trial and effort, they're stating to look good... Here's a pic of my early attempts... and on the guitar... http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj254/cosmikdebriis/both.jpg[/img]
High Flying Bird Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I think Wolfe used pickguards made by WD music. I modified this one for a friend using a file and an exacto saw. http://www.ronwarren.com/150/img_6623_std.jpg[/img]
cook Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Neither of the mounting holes lined up on mine. I didn't want to drill new holes in my guitar so I made a pickguard myself and used the original pickguard to position the holes in it.
rooster Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 On all 3 of my H150's, I used a sander on the "point" that follows the cutaway. They all pretty much look like this: http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t192/18rooster/BlueMastiffresizedfrontviewguitar.jpg[/img]
High Flying Bird Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Cosmik, if I might, I would try and make another pickguard just like this but match the color to the fret board. Maybe look into using a piece of rosewood. That would look righteous! http://www.ronwarren.com/images/coz.jpg[/img]

I've even considered trying a "burst" effect. I've plenty of wood... Not sure whether to go for the "invisible" try and match the guitar body look of a complete contrast... Still... I'm having fun finding out.... ;D
jmb27 Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 still using the stock pickguard that came with my 150. I like it. I like it alot. 8)
Dick Seacup Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 None of my Heritage guitars came with pickguards. Besides, they're finger rests, not pickguards.
