Daydreaming...

So I'm daydreaming about the refinish job on my H-140. Going from ACB to Amber with no burst. Can anyone share a photo or two of a Heritage solid body in an amber finish that doesn't have a burst? A couple months ago, mine looked like this, but I haven't seen it since....

I have another picture taken in normal lighting which shows the guitar looking much less yellow.

Oh wow! That one really helps since the new pups are black open coils too! What kind of tailpiece is that, TP6?

Yes, I have TP-6s on all my Heritage guitars with the exception of my Stat Dlx. It has a Schaller with fine tuners.

Damn, Detroit, it's gonna look gorgeous. When will it be ready?

Sadley, I have no idea. It was supposed to take six weeks... That was 14 weeks ago. :crybaby2:

Mark, has anyone called dibs on this yet? If not, I'd like to be first in the queue. Truly wonderful!

Good things come to those who wait :)

I've got an amber 150 but the photo I've got is too big to post (photoshop for dummies needed...)

you still haven't gotten an ETA from the refinisher?

its been the same story... just a couple more clear coats with some wet sanding in between coats....

doesn't it take a few days for each coat to dry?

Maybe it's because metalflake finishes take longer to do....

Oh my! It better not look like that! I'd be taking home a couple of his LP customs if he pulled that!

It does... But I have a sneaky feeling my luthier treats this more of a hobby than a job sometimes... Yes he has young kids, but that's not my problem.

The amber finish on a first edition 140 reminds me of one of the Les Paul prototypes that Gibson made... Sharp cutaway and all....

I trust that your result will be worth the wait..

15 minutes usually, though usually an hour or two is better. the LONG part is after you're done spraying then waiting for it to dry before the final sand and buff out.

I thought it was more like that, but I wasn't positive. I know he's being careful, but sometimes, I wonder is he being careful or not sure what he's doing...

I'm guessing another couple more weeks, but here it is so far....

Sure hope it almost done... Still not sure if I should be so patient with him....

It looks great, I predict a great result.

You have to let him know that it's been much longer than quoted and you're anxious to take it home. Communicate.
