Steiner Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 That looks just great.. Enjoy her.. And next time... send her to me.. I'm not a professional but I've played one on tv. And on the internet... "An apple a day keeps the Mad Scientist away!" Congrats to be DB!
DetroitBlues Posted July 15, 2011 Author Posted July 15, 2011 T-minus 3 hours and 23 minutes.... Can't wait to get it!!! By the way, if I take it to the factory, think Marv and the gang will freak when I show them what I did to one of their early masterpieces???
DetroitBlues Posted July 15, 2011 Author Posted July 15, 2011 A little show on the guitar.... H-140 Refinish
Halowords Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 A little show on the guitar.... H-140 Refinish The Skydrive account is password protected. You tease.
DetroitBlues Posted July 15, 2011 Author Posted July 15, 2011 The Skydrive account is password protected. You tease. what??? Aw Man!!!! Can you try again?
Halowords Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 I retried it and it works. Looks very nice! I think you have a nice finished product. I like the sharper Florentine cutaway of the H-140's, the finish looks fantastic, the mini-block inlays are a nice touch, and it should be a super comfortable lighter-weight guitar. Congrats!
FredZepp Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 A powerpoint presentation... that was cool. I'm sure you'll have a couple more photos to add to the end of it shortly......
tbonesullivan Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 was anything done about the headstock repair?
DetroitBlues Posted July 15, 2011 Author Posted July 15, 2011 was anything done about the headstock repair? Nothing, it really doesn't show unless you look hard. The headstock vaneer was polished to remove some of the hazing.
DavesNotHere Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Wow! That turned out spectacular. In my humble opinion it was worth the wait, but then again I wasn't the one waiting :0 Congrats!
DetroitBlues Posted July 16, 2011 Author Posted July 16, 2011 I'm completely floored by how it looks. There isn't a guitar in the world I'd trade it for!
yoslate Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 My kind of project guitar. Now, it's yours in a way no other guitar could be, an instrument with a history. Love it. Great project, cool vision, Detroit! Big congrats; it's a beauty! Now, just play the f***ing thing....
Guest HRB853370 Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I'm completely floored by how it looks. There isn't a guitar in the world I'd trade it for! Ahh, I bet Brent or MartyGrass has one you'd trade for....
schundog Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Congratulations, DB, that REALLY turned out well! Don't let anybody tell you you HAVE to change out the Schaller hardware, either; I have it on my H-155 and H-170, and it works just fine. I'm not sure I could tell a tonal difference if I changed it out our not, but I would have a hard time justifying the expense simply for looks. I sincerely hope this guitar ends up being everything you have ever hoped it would be. It's certainly got a lot of HOC mojo going; somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I think Brent owned it, sold it to smurph1, who sold it to kbp810, then you picked it up. I wonder if Brent knows any more about the history on this one?
FredZepp Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 You know, I bet that no one would complain if you happened to post a few more pics....
kbp810 Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 You know, I bet that no one would complain if you happened to post a few more pics.... +1! I just got to see it in person for the first time, looks great!
DetroitBlues Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 You know, I bet that no one would complain if you happened to post a few more pics.... I've been meaning to do that. I want to get a really nice family photo taken in some natural light with a decent camera. Hopefully soon!
