One of my 535's has 09-42's on it and the other one has 10-46's on it. I am curious as to what string gauge is used predominantly by 535 owners on this forum. I play mainly blues and blues rock on my 535's.

On my "brand-g", 10-46 Pyramid nickel, which I put on my H150 too. Love those strings. Anything thinner is just too light for my ham-fists.

11s on the semis (and solid bodies, and hollow bodies...)

11's on a semi? Holy crap. How do you bend those?

10's on my 535. DR Blues

P.S. Love the fat cat avatar!

11 on a semi shouldn't feel that different than 10s on a Strat or Tele. I like 10s on my new (to me) 535.

Guess it's what you get used to. After using 11s on the strat and tele, the shorter scale semis/150s seem easy(er). Either that or it's pulling in the clutch lever building up strength... :glasses9:

I played D'Addario 11-49s for years until a bit of arthritis started settling in (yeah, getting to be an old guy). I've since dropped the gauge down to 10.5-48, and it seems like a nice compromise between 10s and 11s.

I'm firmly with the 11-49 D'Addario XL camp. No problem with bends at all; I just like more resistance. If (read: when) I get my 535 back, 11's it'll be. Then again, 11's would feel springy to someone who has 13-53's on his guitars now (TI Swing flats on Burrell Groovemaster, TI Bebop rounds on Clark custom.....love 'em!!).

Gibson Brite Wires 10s on everything but the Hummingbird :)

D'Addario 11-49 on 243/4 inch (Heritage, Gibson etc.) and 10-46 on 251/2 inch (Fender) scales. When I started playing years ago I went for light gauges, but as I got older I realised that thicker strings gave better tone. On my Meyrick archtop I have D'addario Chromes, 12-52.

On my all guitars :

Thomastik strings fw .012-.050

Dogal strings fw .012-.052

On my next h535.....012-.050...of course!

usually .10 standard gauge. I haven't been playing as long/hard as a lot of people. I still use .09s on my tele, bolt, and ibanez, but i think i'm going to go up to 9.5.

I like that they have intermediate gauges more available now.

Man, never knew they had strings in half steps!!!!

All my guitars are using 10-46. The oddball is my DeArmond, which has the D'Addario XL110W with the wound G.

Last summer, I tried using DR Pure Blues and really like them. Still have quite a few sets of XL110s to use, but have DRs on the Milli, 535 and 140. XL110s on the 157, S100, Legacy and Asat.

I think they have only really become available in the past year or two. the rest of the strings are a little thicker too. once my .009's run out, I'm going to .0095's.

I use 12's on my 575. I will probably do the same on my 535 when I get it. I can't wait til money gets right (towards the end of the year) and I can get it.

Once your hands get used to 12's, bending is no issue. ;)

I've used D-Addario 11's with a wound G string on my H555 for 16 years now and have no problem bending. I always like to experiment and tried 10's once, but found the tone to be thinner and took them right off.
