big bob Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 So today I got off my lazy arse and wet sanded the 140 to 2000 then buffed her all out. She came out great.. Oh yea, pics
FredZepp Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 Yes, that came out GREAT ..!!!! That finish looks incredible. When this one is put back together it's going to be a killer axe.
big bob Posted June 4, 2011 Author Posted June 4, 2011 I hope.. the pups are super hot.. and the bigsby should just make her the Bomb!
big bob Posted June 4, 2011 Author Posted June 4, 2011 Does that work on a headstock vaneer too? Not sure what the question is? for this guitar I sanded the clear coat off and added a new one in order to get rid of some real bad finish worming/ buckle rash.
brentrocks Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 that looks great Lance..i cant wait to see it fully loaded
Kuz Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 Very, very, nice Lance. Professional work there. I am impressed!
Steiner Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 Everybody into the pool!!! That guitar looks fine enough to dive right in to the middle; cannon ball
big bob Posted June 4, 2011 Author Posted June 4, 2011 Hey thanks Kids! now what type of controls.. I'm thinking three tone controls (one for each pup) a master volume. standard three way switch (bridge/bridge-neck/neck). then a push pull (on the volume) to bring the mid in. What would you do!
big bob Posted June 4, 2011 Author Posted June 4, 2011 Here's the question How can I wire her so I can have bridge/ bridge-mid/ mid/ mid-neck/ bridge -neck/ all three... ???
schundog Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 You da MAN, Lance! Looks great, I hope we all see it at PSPIV.
FredZepp Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Here's the question How can I wire her so I can have bridge/ bridge-mid/ mid/ mid-neck/ bridge -neck/ all three... ??? maybe you could use the Freeway switch to get more options. It is a 6 way toggle switch ( at Stew-Mac ) like the one on Pages LP Custom. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Components:_Switches_and_knobs/Free-Way_Pickup_Switch.html The unique switch originally used in the Jimmy Page Les Paul® Custom guitar. It does the work of multiple standard switches, with 2-pole, 6-position transverse toggle action to broaden your guitar's wiring options and tone possibilities—a guitar gearshifter! Coil-splitting, 3-pickup selection, piezo pickup activation, and humbucker / single-coil / humbucker switching are now possible while maintaining the appearance of your Gibson-style guitar.
conorb Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Wow, that looks awesome. Nice touch with the 140 grit, you don't want to dig too hard with that stuff. conorb
H Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Here's the question How can I wire her so I can have bridge/ bridge-mid/ mid/ mid-neck/ bridge -neck/ all three... ??? Would SD Triple Shot mounting rings help?
big bob Posted June 5, 2011 Author Posted June 5, 2011 Wow, that looks awesome. Nice touch with the 140 grit, you don't want to dig too hard with that stuff. conorb Conorb, I did not start with 140 grit, she is a 140, an H-140 that is, H-code I started with 600,then went to 800. That pretty much lifted all the clear coat off the guitar. Next step was to shoot six coats of new nitro clear on the guitar. Next wet sand the orange peal of with 1000, then 1500, then 2000. then polishing compound. this is how she looked when I started this is the back now
mark555 Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 You are doing a great job Lance, its looking very nice indeed. I wouldn't mind trying a restoration project myselfone day.
