Let's see... Isn't Heavy Metal a Sammy Hagar tune?

Oh yes, you should hear power chords on a Golden Eagle! :icon_geek:

I used to be in an original metal band in 89-92....somewhere around there.

Kinda thrash, speed metal sorta. We did a few local shows with other bands.

I dont think it was the most fun Ive ever had playing though the music was pretty good I think.

I dont think at the core Im a metal player then or now though I do still drop tune and try and come up with metal type riffs but they probably sound more hard rock by todays metal standards.

Kinda/sorta? I mostly fool around trying to just learn the instrument and make my own stuff musically speaking, which can run the gambit. I do play some Alice in Chains, Megadeth, old Burton-era Metallica, would love to play some Slipknot or similar (more of the Subliminal Verses stuff where it's more melodic though), and would love to learn to play some stuff by Isis or other "Post-Metal" bands. I suppose I'm more in the land where Hard Rock meets Metal meets Post/Prog-Rock.

But yes, I like Heavy Metal. I like to use gain as an accent sometimes and flow between really clean or just slightly overdriven to heavier stuff, but tend to like overdrive on a tube amp more than a straight-up distortion pedal (ala. Metal Zone or DS-1) most of the time.

Any heritage players out there who play metal?

Can you define what you mean by metal. I used to think I knew. But I work with a couple of metal heads and what I thought might be Metal is hard rock by their standards.

Do you mean 2011 wall of drop tuned subsonic rumble with the cookie monster belching the words or do you mean spandex'd hair do's with air raid siren vocals? Half step progressions and rapid downstrokes?

Alice in chains is awesome! And metallica with cliff is quite possibly the best Heavy metal music ever created!Slipknot is kind of hit n miss ill like it for a while and sometimes hate it. F.Y.I.I run a mesa dual rec through a randall 4x12 with vintage 30,s That amp can make any rock or metal tone from the 70,s and up! But for the more modern tones i put a tube screamer on it with a noise gate.

You too? haha.

I was in a metal band from 92-94 called Damnage (Linkage). I am on the tunes called The Advocate and Who is Your God.

I still play metal all the time. Unfortunately I had to sell my Heritage 150 for the time being. They are great guitars for metal I think. Alex Skolnick plays them.

i would if i had one.

there was a guy here who played doom metal- he posted his demo once and it was heavy enough clear your bowels out. think the band was called mountain goat or something to that effect.
