H530 with TV Jones pickups

Finally, after 3 years of begging, pleading, threats, discussions with Tom Jones et al- I am please to have our 1'st H530 with these beautiful old style pickups. Please check out this somewhat lengthy (sorry bout that) demo video. This demo is with clean 50's style tones only. I'm proud to say- and we'll do more soon with some overdrive & such. I'm really pleased with the result & have placed orders for more "please?" with Bigsby & some without. Also ordered some H525's with these. I realize they're not for everybody, and that the Lollar P-90's do an absolutely awesome job in these cool Heritage models.......but, it's another exciting dimension for Wolfe Guitars & Heritage, and just wanted to let all in on it. I "truly" welcome comments, suggestions & critique at- wolfeguitars@gmail.com (this and ANY subject.) (No kidding, I REALLY appreciate input from friends of Heritage)

Best to all. Jay Wolfe

I have already seen the video a couple days ago and it sounds fantastic. It worths those 3 years you have spent on it.

How about a generous discount for HOC members? :biggrin_mini:

Seriously...

I saw the video a few days ago and was really impressed with the tone of the 530 with the TV Jones pups. I would love to see a video with A/B comparison of the Lolar pups and TV Jones pups in the same model Heritage with the same rig for direct comparison. I bet the TV Jones pickups would sound nice in a 525 also.

Very cool Jay! Sounds very Carl Perkins and Chet Atkins ish. Any plans to put them in an H-150 LW or H-110?

That was cool!! Makes me want to retro-fit one of mine with TV Jones pickups. Very nice.

Well; we have been doing that. Any time you feel we're not right with pricing- PLEASE call me personally & let's discuss. We obvioulsy can't lose dough, but we ARE often chastised by Heritage & other dealers for our already low prices. Our Heritage instruments typically are beyond standard spec, and this costs us a tad more- but we wanna be right, in spite of that sometimes un-equal comparison.

Thanks for commenting, appreciated.

YES- we plan more models with TV Jones, depending somewhat on feedback & customer requests. I am also wanting to do some demos with more modern type sounds. The clean tones are so darned cool & twangy, especially in the Mike Marsh Black Face combos. I find myself playing Ghost Riders in the Sky when I play it. How about a Millennium DC w/ TVJ's?

Thanks for the input,

Jay Wolfe

That guitar in black with cream binding (and an ebony fingerboard) would come very close to my 'wish list' Gretsch English Gentleman (the George Harrison guitar). And it's a Heritage!

If you don't mind me asking, what is the rough price for the model you demoed?

Super cool, I love the fact that you spec your guitars to higher a standard and have a knack for what can generate great tone. It really makes some of the Heritage guitars you have irresistible.

Hey... that is quite cool.

Rick did a great job of showing the uniqueness of the tone of that combination. Very nice.

Great to hear from you, Jay. That 530 is very sweet for rockabilly Gretsch and faux Tele tones.

You've brought several unique Heritage models to the public.

Your comment about discounts and upgraded products is much appreciated.

Keep up the good work and thanks for posting!

I've got an absolutely beautiful Millie DC I'd let you use to experiment with. :biggrin_mini:

Oh, and love Riders in the Sky. It's been a staple on our set list for nearly 10 yrs!! Hmmm, wonder how that would sound on an MDC TVJ? :rolleyes_mini:

ACK! It's sold already! Someone beat us to the punch.

This is once again causing me to eye my Millie and imagine the seth lovers being replaced by TV Classics. Or maybe the Hamer Newport. They do sound somewhat similar.

I would very much love to hear them in a 150.

Airy, punchy, clear, very articulate.... Bandmate has the T.V.'s in a 6120, and I'd always thought it sounded good. Something about that Heritage wood that sounds a little richer, more resonant. Nice to hear it straight, no chaser through a simple 6L6 box.

Adding these pick ups to a Heritage is a great idea, brings an entirely new dimension of tone.

Nice to hear from you Jay. Currently enjoying two Heritages that traveled from your shop to NJ, a 575 Custom and my 535 "35 Special" which I believe was one of your custom orders. Oh, also my G&L Legacy.

Bringing the family to Disney World this fall, hope to sneak away for a long overdue pilgrimage to Jupiter FL. Good luck with the new Nashville store.

I thought about putting a set of TV's in my gold 535 but never got around to it. You can drop them into a humbucker cavity with the adapter rings. If you don't like them change them back out. Neat!

that's why the "3 years" thing confuses me. TV jones pickups with the "english mount" have adapters to replace a variety of pickups, including dog ear and humbucking pickups.

Could be that a special pickup was done for Jay. Maybe he can chime in on that.

ONE WORD!! BADA#$!! Sounds like he's channeling early Beatles-era George Harrison!! Sweet..Thanks for that!! :icon_thumright:

One of my Heritage guitars has TV Jones pickups in it, an H-516 in trans orange with a bigsby. A previous owner did up the PU rings out of wood. It sounds fantastic. Thanks you Jay, for your contributions that I'm sure extend way beyond these pages.
