rjsanders Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 great idea & xlnt guit, Jay. good job. a friend has a Chapin guitar, not too unlike an H-150, and its Joneses are indeed great...
eor Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 had a es333 once that i popped a powertron plus into (at the bridge). it was badass. really badass. sounded awesome when you split the coils, too. i, too am confused by the confusion. i tried this years ago (with the english mount). i didn't think it was a huge deal but people thought it was really odd. they'dd point and stare and call other guys over and say "hey, he's got a gretsch pickup in that thing!", and gawk like a bunch of slack jawed yokels. as an aside, a few years back i emailed tv jones about a mini humbucker sized anything. this was before he even started with the p90s. after i gave him some measurements he said he didn't have anything that would work. earlier this year i saw him at namm and i asked him again about it and he flat out said no, and directed me toward lollar. he's really (really) good at what he does, but only does what he does. maybe that's why this took so long? and as for the video, the guitar sounded great, but i didn't care for the amp settings. too bright for me, but i get why they did that.

Well, thing is, those are just english mount TVJ Classics. Those have been around for YEARS. I had some in a guitar about 5 years ago. I too and stumped as to why it took them years to get a set. Maybe there was something to this that went beyond simply procuring a set of pickups.
mark555 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 sounds fantastic, and from here in England where we pay obscene prices for American guitars, your prices are really good, so no complaints from me at all. When the £ is stronger against the $ I will be getting in touch with you for a nice Heritage.

Reply: The 3+ year delay was not due to any issues procuring pickups. I bought the pickups over 3 years ago & sent them to Kal. The delay, which is VERY typical for Heritage, was due to the guys at Heritage. This multi-year delay is not unusual, and it took similar time periods to get them to make the H530 to begin with, H525, H137, P-90 H150, Mini HB H150, Duncan pickups as std. (12+ years) instead of Schaller, player preferred bridge & stop bar, CTS, and many more innovations I've put forth- and backed up with firm orders ($$). I've now placed an order more than "10" times in the past year for a new 12 string model with TV Jones- and They've yet to even acknowledge the order. This silly, time & money wasting kubucki dance will no doubt continue for a couple of years before I(maybe?) receive the 1'st one- IF I ever do. I consulted with Jones & Ren & others for pickups, string spacing, bridge & stop bar- so we can get it right the 1'st time around. As usual, any input is always welcome. Just don't expect to see a result any time soon. I discussed the pickups for the H530TVJ with Jones as well, and he suggested several combinations. I chose to begin with the Classics to begin with, and will try other combinations going forward. Jay Wolfe
Gitfiddler Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Jay, since we are talking about H530's, can you tell us which Lollar P90's did you request? Low wind or High wind? Are they the same P90's that are in the 150's that you spec'd? Thanks. Tim

Thanks, Jay Wolfe

On the one hand, it seems that Heritage is old-school and resistant to change and innovation ("if it ain't broke, don't fix it"), but on the other hand, it is admirable that they won't let anyone outside the factory call the shots.
