MartyGrass Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 This guitar may be available soon. It's not mine. Take a look and enjoy. When I hear more, I'll post it.
golferwave Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Class of 59....VERY nice. Must be from the person that has the wine red H-150 on ebay now. Are we going to get first chance at it?
FredZepp Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Wow, that is Really nice. . That top and finish has a fantastic look to it.... and Korina is cool also.
brentrocks Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Thats a class of 59 all right...who is the owner?
MartyGrass Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 I don't know when it's going up. He's going to be looking for about $3500 though. Ed Roman's saleman said they would sell it on consignment for up to $5K.
Hfan Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Wow, the wood and finish is almost too attractive, I think I would be distracted and stare at it too much and not get around to playing it.. Korina body and neck. Would this make it relatively lighter? Never saw one of these. A limited run I assume?

MartyGrass Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 It's 8 lbs. 14.3 oz. It now has TonePros Klusons on it. That's an improvement IMO. The seller is a player but makes his money as a manager. Once again, you can thank Ed Roman for this beauty.
dbetts41 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 I had a class of 59 many years ago & it was a looker but tonewise it was a dog with a capital D... I think Brent is correct on around 2K
Millennium Maestro Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 I don't know when it's going up. He's going to be looking for about $3500 though. Ed Roman's saleman said they would sell it on consignment for up to $5K. Not very surpising to me... Yeah, THEY SOLD FOR $3500 BEFORE, before Ed upgrades etc... #3 was a consignement that ER had for around $2850... wasnt moving and the seller sold direct to me.
MartyGrass Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 I had a class of 59 many years ago & it was a looker but tonewise it was a dog with a capital D Hey, you can't be good at everything! The seller doesn't like the tone either. He was considering putting Burstbuckers on it.

True story, My first CO59(bought from a pro player that said he loved it), I took it to ER's tech privately when I recieved it(we both had a serious appreciation for the guitar) upon inspection the black back were miswired using Dimarzio color coding as opposed to Seymours which full time tapped the pickups.. This is a case were the original Blackbacks were Dimarzio and the new and current version are Seymours or a off the ball tech.
Gitfiddler Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 This may be a dumb question, but has anyone asked Heritage to produce one of these as a one off custom order? I wonder what that would cost without the fancy Korina/Limba back/neck? Tonally I prefer Honduran Mahogany for solid body gits.
RockingCPA Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Hi Everyone, That is my Heritage Class of '59. Here are some more pics. I'll have time to comment and reply to posts later today. I have not listed the guitar for sale on eBay yet. and most of the info posted early by Marty Grass is accurate, except I'm Eddie Money's BUSINESS Manger, not his personal manager. I'm the money guy. I'm getting more into photography and have spent quite a bit of money on all new Canon gear. Hence, the reason for selling a couple of my 20 guitars & basses. I play my R7 and R8 primarily (I know, I know...don't use the "G" word). It's a beautiful guitar. Personally, I think it's the nicest looking Class of '59 I've seen. I took these photos an hour or so ago, so this is the actual condition of the guitar today, which is essentially the same as the day I got it other than changing out the gaudy, ugly, homely, over-the-top Grover Imperials to Tone Pros Klusons, which, IMO, match the guitar much better. I still have the Govers and will go with the guitar, if you decide you would want to put them on. Marty Grass and I are still negotiating and he's a really nice guy. Hopefully, we can come to some middle ground on the price. I would love to see this beauty find a good home worthy of its quality. Oh yeah, one edit. The guitar actually weighs 8 pounds 15.4 ounces, not 14.3. Still, that's lighter than 2 out of 3 of my LP Historic reissues. Bob
RockingCPA Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Just for fun...Here is my LP family. I just gave the one on the right to my 18-year-old son as his high school graduation gift. Everybody gather around...we're going to have our picture taken. :-) From left-to-right: 2000 LP R7 (weighs only 8 pounds, 8.8 ounces - AWESOME guitar) 2007 LP R8 2006 LP R9 1098 G-word Heritage 80 #0009 2003 LP Standard Honeyburst (again, now my son's - nice gift, huh? LOL)
FredZepp Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Kudos on the photography, you've captured some great looking guitars there. That Class of '59 is quite seductive in those shots.
RockingCPA Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Hey, you can't be good at everything! The seller doesn't like the tone either. He was considering putting Burstbuckers on it. Yeah, I'm really not a fan of the Alnico II pickups. They seem a little gutless, compared to Burstbucker 1 & 2s in my LP R8 and R9, the Duncan '59s in my other H-150, or the '57 Classics that are in my LP R7. Bob

This is a case were the original Blackbacks were Dimarzio and the new and current version are Seymours or a off the ball tech. That's kind of what it reminds me of. As if they are tapped, but there is no hum/buzz. If I were going to keep it, I would just put some SD '59s in it with aged covers, to make it look more like an original '59.

I would love to see this beauty find a good home worthy of its quality. I really do appreciate this guitar. However, I don't want to prevent Bob from getting the best price he can. Don't let my interest stand in the way of PM'ing Bob. He's an interesting and very pleasant guy to chat with BTW.
