Like to bound headstock and f holes, don't think the gold knobs do her justice. My 2 cents.

Yeah, I think your right. I don't usually like speed knobs but they would look good here.

Normally I'm a big speed knob demon but here I would rather black metal tops with silver inserts.

Gorgeous! Congratulations on your new 530 and what a beauty it is. Great design. Enjoy yourself.

Those are some nice pics, Moon. And a nice write up/review. Glad it's to your liking - sure sounds like a nice axe. Your description kinda sounds like my 525, which is also light and being hollow has that controllabl feedback thing going for it. And yeh, the Lollars do seem to drive an amp pretty well.

Likewise, as has been commented the bound headstock (and f-holes) really set it off nicely. I dunno, I don't mind the gold knobs. I had black speedos on a 535 and replaced them with those black knobs with the sliver tops (reflector knobs are they called?) - got 'em from Twin Town over on Lyndale. Those might look good, too, tieing in the black and silver theme.

Really nice guitar - congrats!

So, I'm back after a long evening playing and a day at work. This guitar plays sweet! I'll use a couple guitars I have to compare. I have a mid-70's LP special with p-90's. The neck on the 530 feels similar. I suppose it's 'fat', but to me it's like butter. I prolly have bigger hands, so that might make it feel 'not that fat' to me. The Lollars are noticeably hotter than the vintage g-brand...not too far off a humbucker. At least I didn't turn up my tube-driver at all and it was set volume vise for a humbucker equipped guitar. Usually I turn up the volume with single coils. I think the Lollars are quieter. Compared to my early 80's Epiphone Riviera the 530 is thinner. That surprised me. Maybe an 1/8 inch. The guitar is thinner and the case is thinner. The 530 is light as a feather...the Riv does have a center block, but even so the 530 is light. I've never had a g-brand similar style, so I don''t know if the 530 is thinner than a 335/330, but I suspect so.

The cool thing about this guitar is the feedback! I'm not talking screeching awfulness, but a very musical type. You can feel the guitar fluttering against your stomach, and at will you can let the note sustain into blissful feedback. It is very control-able, either by moving a bit or by slightly pressing with my forearm. This chords and sounds like god on my AC30...just sweetness. I'm running out of adjectives, so I'll add some pictures instead.

Thanks for all the kind comments. I like this guitar a lot! I still haven't spent time setting her up yet. Nice long weekend coming up for messing around with it. Yeah, the gold knobs are interesting...wondered if they were thinking they set off the creme binding??? Now comes the fun part...tweaking and bonding!

That is an awesome guitar! The black finish with the creme binding just goes together so well. Enjoy your new Heritage! Oh, and taking the pictures in the grass...very cool...seems like we've seen that pose around here somewhere.

So Gitfiddler "enabled' a suggestion made by a few HOC-ers. Again, my pics are questionable, but here's the speed knob version:

Thanks Tim! I'll probably get my room mate to break out the sweet camera again soon.

Man... I need to get me one of those one day.. ....

I had black speedos on...

I know we all get turned on by guitars here but isn't sharing this kind of info a step too far? ;)

congrats on such a great guitar! I think the black speed knobs look very nice!

oddly, the tail piece now looks gold (in your latest picture) whereas in previous pictures, it appears silver. Did you swap that out, or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

The hardware is all the original chrome...just the knobs switched out. May be the afternoon sun playing tricks. Thanks for all the good words...I really do love this guitar!

Hey Moonpie~

This rare, black Ibanez GB30 reminds me of your one-of-a-kind black 530 and is the reason I knew that the black knobs would look great on yours.

Nice George Benson Tim!

All moonpie needs now would be a black bridge, tailpiece and pickguard.

However if Moonpie is that black and white cat, just needs food, a place to sleep and some love.

That IS nice. I have a soft spot for the 'tuxedo' look...have a LPC that I enjoy, same finish. The Black Gold Eagle that went earlier this year, which I believe is MartyGrass's made me drool too! If I hadn't been in the middle of my custom order...dang! :wacko_mini2:
