tsp17 Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 ahhhhh, ... the search is over. My 150 LW ASB arrived yesterday. Great transaction with MartyGrass (thanks again). Arrived last night. Will post more info later after some more time with it. it is very, very pretty and sounds great. as nice a VSB as i've ever seen. And- under 8 pounds.
kidsmoke Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 congrats!! It amazes me the way these guitars cycle through the brother(sister)hood. Well, let's just the the hood. Looks fantastic. enjoy

I agree almost, that it is definitely, One of the best examples of a VSB I have seen as well (exception to mine). Congratulations on a beautiful guitar and from MG as well. Can't go wrong there. I'm sure it is over upgraded and perfect.
tbonesullivan Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 That is just awesome looking! Definitely one of the best VSB H150CM's I have seen. Captures the "unburst" style color perfectly while still having a good depth of color.
Jimbob Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Very, very nice! Congrats! I've got one coming from MG any minute now.....oh the anticipation......
Gitfiddler Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Congrats, TSP17! That 150 looks killer! And Marty Grass is great to transact guitar biz with.
golferwave Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 +1000 for MG. I bought my Cherry Translucent H-150 LW from him as well. Killer guitar! Enjoy yours!!
tbonesullivan Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I got my H158 Millennium from Marty. Definitely great to deal with.
mars_hall Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Absolutely great looking guitar. What is the build year?
FredZepp Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 LOVE IT !! That has a great looking top and the LW part is cool also. Don't be afraid to post more pics if you have some.....
chico Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 congrats, sure would like to see/hear that in person.
tsp17 Posted June 30, 2011 Author Posted June 30, 2011 Absolutely great looking guitar. What is the build year? Serial number is a "z", so that should be a 2009. Man- it is fun to play. going through my Acoustic Image head into a Raezer's Edge cab, sounds really great. super versatile. I'd be comfortable playing it in almost any musical context. warm, but with some edge when you want it. it is definitely a "singer" which is what i was missing with my archtop. rhythm riffs practically fall out of the thing. i put some TI flatwounds on it and it really warmed up. It has been a fun couple of nights. tomorrow i'll try it through my sparkle drive. i am digging the cherry body as backdrop to the gorgeous top (it really is cool in person), but it is hard to capture in a picture. will try again tomorrow. thanks for all the good wishes.
High Flying Bird Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 i am digging the cherry body as backdrop to the gorgeous top (it really is cool in person), but it is hard to capture in a picture. will try again tomorrow. Place the guitar in front of a mirror, focus on the mirror and be sure not to get yourself or the camera in the shot. That would be sweet!
tsp17 Posted July 2, 2011 Author Posted July 2, 2011 so, after a few days, this guitar continues to impress with its versatility, tone and playability. the chambered body is very resonant, and can go from straight ahead jazz, to fusion, to blues or rock on a dime. I am not a pedal pusher, but with my sparkle drive in play, it is capable of performing in any genre i might play (no metal for me). right now, i like the body size better than my arch top. maybe it is just the newness of the romance, but it just might replace my 575 MH as my go to axe. the Duncan 59's are terrific. warm, sweet. great for Robben Ford type tone. i like them more than i anticipated, and they respond to my sparkle drive very well. but they are not as articulate as i would like, for example like HRWs. I will keep working with them to see f i can get to that sweet spot, but may change them out in the end for something a little cleaner/crisper (but retaining warmth). any suggestions?
nachogrande Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 VSB rules. You can always enhanced it with a pair of zebra buckers
