Neck is very similar on each. pickups are different. In these clips I left the amp setting alone, the only difference is the guitars and volume changes on the guitars. I have a limit on the number of guitars Im allowed to have at any one time , so one will be sold. I don't know which one. So, I'm looking for thoughts on the sounds each one makes. This is just some random noodling, nothing planned. what say you??? Kirk
dbetts41 Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 based on the quality of sound out of my computer???? 10832077

kirkw101 Posted July 8, 2011 Author Posted July 8, 2011 a little of both. I have 3 electrics and an acoustic. Wife doesn't say much but does give me the look. kirk
mars_hall Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 The 2nd is definitely more defined, but still a little thin. The first one made me think you were playing without a pick. Was the same pick used on each sample? The amount of definition can change with the pick edge. It would be better to hear each without the reverb. Given the samples, I would say keep the 2nd so your ear can hear more.
kirkw101 Posted July 8, 2011 Author Posted July 8, 2011 same pick, same strings. I'm really torn here. I've been A/B ing these two for over an hour now.
kirkw101 Posted July 8, 2011 Author Posted July 8, 2011 also this is as dirty as I ever get. Normally its a bit cleaner than that.
Jimbob Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 She's only giving you "the look?" Keep both guitars! When she gives you "the look" and "the lecture," buy another Heritage! When she gives you "the look" while armed with a baseball bat, it's time to sell one! Just kidding, of course, but only you can decide what you're able to part with.
mtpatty Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Well, I would keep them both! (of course, I have 17) and I have Bass playing friend who has at least 35... tell her it is like her shoes- she will understand then...(of course I am married to my second wife who likes to scrapbook and do that sorta stuff, so we both have our interests)...
wingnut1 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I like the sound of the second more, there is just a certain sound that the first doesn't have.
brentrocks Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Wife doesn't say much but does give me the look. kirk is this the look?
TalismanRich Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Hard to say which is better... depends on the one you want. TEST - fatter sound with more midrange, much higher volume. Cleaned up well which confuses me... if the output is that much stronger, then it should be hitting the front end harder. TEST2 - Scooped mid sound, way lower volume. It was hard to judge with the amount of reverb, and I didn't hear near as much clean sound. I would think this would be the Blackface vs the first one's Tweed. I hate judging a guitar's sound by a high gain or heavy crunch sound. More and more, I'm playing clean, although I do use the TS to give a nice fat round sound.
kirkw101 Posted July 9, 2011 Author Posted July 9, 2011 the look is close brent. one is the new H137D 1st run with schallers. the other is one of the 60's tribute LP's w/p90's. I'm really suck. the more I play them back to back and mess with the knobs I can get the same sort of tones. Like I said before the schallers are like p90's + some. kirk

DetroitBlues Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 also this is as dirty as I ever get. Normally its a bit cleaner than that. I would record again using a tone setting you actual will use. From there, I'd also suggest playing just one or two songs, but the same songs. Now that been, said, you seem to flow a little better on the second guitar. Question is, which guitar is more comfortable for you to play. Another little point, sounds like you have a little one. Ask them, their ears are more senstive to ours and they'll give you an honest opinion since brand names mean nothing to them...
Jimbob Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 is this the look? Not exactly the look of a happy woman.....LOL. Too funny!
DetroitBlues Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Kids like the p90's. Aren't they both P-90's???
kirkw101 Posted July 14, 2011 Author Posted July 14, 2011 one has schallers golden50's, the other has P90's kirk
DetroitBlues Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Sounds like you're keeping the Gibson and selling the Heritage.
kirkw101 Posted July 14, 2011 Author Posted July 14, 2011 I will trade one of them. I have to many LP style guitars. I'd rather keep the Heritage and trade the gibson for a small tube amp. The schallers are just way too versatile. I mean I can get P90 sounds, really clean sounds, and crunchy sounds, just from moving the volume knob. Kirk

Kirk If you need/want a small tube amp, I'm certain KBP810 can hook you up. Find a design and he'll quote you for it. Keep in mind, his prices are lower than most used tube amps (non-pcb) out there.
kirkw101 Posted July 14, 2011 Author Posted July 14, 2011 if I can sell one of these I'll do it. I have the AC15, but want something like a goodsell super 7 or something like that. kirk
