barrymclark Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Dying to hear how that Super Eagle sounds! Be sure to post clips!
JeffB Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 That Super Eagle does it for me. Both beautiful guitars though. Congrats
DC Ron Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Nice and nicer! Had a Guild X-175 with a master volume and really liked it for adjusting the volume once I got the center toggle position balance right. Know some don't like it but was never an issue for me.
MartyGrass Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 The Super has landed. The neck is slightly wider than 1 3/4" (1 13/16ths). It is a D carve, which makes the neck comfortable. The Lollars are pretty quiet, but likes all good kittens, they hiss a little. They are much quieter than my Gibson P90s and Strat single coils. The Lollars are reverse wound, of course. The guitar is pretty loud acoustically, more than my other full archtops. It is a lap full and is comfortable to play without a strap. The master volume control works pretty well. It has a steep drop off around 4 (nothing's perfect). I haven't heard a treble roll off between 10 and 7. The tone remains consistent. It sounds really good with the chrome flatwounds it came with. They warm up the P90s. The notes sustain better than I expected with FWs. The wide nut facilitates fingerstyle very well. That's the report.
DetroitBlues Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Sounds like you two are bonding well.... I'm working out the sweet spot with the 140 now. Hadn't much time to play recently though...
Blunote Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Two???? That's just sick! Sick, sick, sick, sick, sick!
