Guest HRB853370 Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Does this look like typical VSB to ya'all? That is what it says in the control cavity, but to me, it looks more goldish or almond.

H Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Looks darker than my VSB... and your pic is in direct sunlight.
golferwave Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Ahh, The beauty of hand done finishes. Much variation from sample to sample. When you get your Heritage you receive a unique piece all your own.
FredZepp Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 It's hard to tell from that pic really. How accurate is the color in the pic? Certainly appears to be VSB. This is it with a slight adjustment..

I always thought burst finishes had a slightly darker shade around the edges of the top that faded into the main color. Mine really does not have that.

If that is the color, it is a nice variation that is less red , with less of the yellows and oranges we usually see in a VSB. An Un-Burst to some degree without the distinct finish on the rim , it's a nice vintage look.
Halowords Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I would say it looks like a somewhat darker VSB. I've had two and the color/shading did vary quite a bit between the two. At the extremes, some of the finishes can overlap (e.g. VSB vs. Amber "Unburst" vs. whatever). That is with pretty much any builder and with any batch of dye or stain. Just looking at it, I would probably guess VSB or some amber colored burst (whatever name that would warrant), although slightly darker/browner in the rim than some I have seen pictures of. Also realize, the lighting, angle, not to mention the variances of cameras, computer monitors, and so on will all make a difference. Which you probably already knew, but it is still fascinating to see how the same finish, or even the same guitar, can vary so much depending on various factors.
