Hi: I'm new here, just bought my first Heritage It's new but the serial number tells me it was built in december 2009.

Can't wait to get my hands on it. My first guitar like this, I have a number of G&Ls and a Duesenberg, but this is my first venture over here!

Welcome to the club ....

That is a great looking 150 !!! I'm sure that you'll enjoy the heck out of it. It comes with the Kalamazoo mojo included...

so hard for us lefties, we have to buy guitars without seeing them and without playing them, but in the end will be worth it, just takes tons of research (thanks to the internet).

I want to thank SouthpawGuy for getting me hooked and spending all my savings on guitars!

That guitar is gorgeous Alfonso, is that wineburst? I have a 150 in wineburst and it looks very similar. But yours seems to be reversed or something.

Calling all lefties.

So tell me, lefties, rather than pay more $$ for a lefty guitar, would it not make more sense to learn how to play "righty"?

I can see the difficulty in throwing a baseball or football with the non-dominant hand, but if you are a lefty, wouldn't that make for a built-in advantage in fretting and finger dexterity? What is the big deal that left handed people cannot handle a "normal" guitar?

I am sure this reply will spark all kinds of controversy (Koula, where ARE you?) but educate me, educate me! I taught myself how to play drums left handed, so I could relieve the burn that was going on due to lactic acid build up in my right hand. I am not as good lefty as righty, but that is only because I have played righty all my life. There is no doubt in my mind had I learned drumming lefty as a child, I would be as accomplished as I am righty.

So, what is the BIG DEAL with lefties playing upside down guitar!

Nice guitar Alfonso, and welcome to the cult.... Do we take it that you are near neighbour of Paul the Southpaw Guy?

Posted

I don't think that's a wineburst, Kuz has a 535 in wineburst and it is very different. By the way John, why not post a pic of that guitar and give me a fix?

Posted

did you know that Jimi Hendrix was right handed, played a lefty?

whatever feels comfortable, I guess I could have learned righty, I just wanted to be different, lol.

I find that lefty guitars are harder to find (good ones) but I have not found them to be more expensive. Some builders charge more but most do not.

Which way do you golf, why not golf the other way? same question.

I am not a near neighbor of SouthpawGuy, he's in northern ireland and I live in the niagara falls area, Canada. I'm about 1/2 hour north of Buffalo. Canadian, eh!

When I turned 50, I decided I wanted to play guitar, went to the local music shop without any knowledge whatsoever with regard to guitars and bought a cheapy strat and started taking lessons. I'm 54 now, 4 years of playing, lessons every two weeks. Still very much a hack, but know a lot more about guitars, lol!

Hi Alf and welcome to the HOC.

That's a nice looking 150 you have, did you take delivery yet ? There are quite a few lefty Heritage players here, and a number of G&L fans also.

Welcome to the asylum, Alfonzo. Paul (SouthpawGuy) wouldn't steer you wrong! That's a really nice looking 150!

I don't golf much Alfonzo, but I have been known to hit a baseball switched. I think if I grew up holding the bat that way, it would have been no problem. I think you nailed it-it's what you feel most comfortable with.

That's a nice looking guitar. I remember when Jerry first showed up here.

Nice looking guitar! Congrats! And welcome to HOC! SouthPawGuy is indeed a bad influence....LOL. I first met him over at the G&LDP as well, and he talked me into checking out this forum a while back. Although, while I've owned Heritage guitars for many years now, I still feel as though I'm fairly new to HOC myself.

yup, he's a bad man!

No, haven't taken delivery yet, can't wait. Its always exciting to wait and see if what you bought is worth it. I know it will be!

Welcome Alfonzo, beautiful 150 you found. Very cool to start playing at your age, I resumed playing at a similar age.

Did Southpaw start you with G&Ls as well? He has some nice ones. I'm a fan also.
