SouthpawGuy Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Received this one last week, a lefty 2003 Heritage 157. I don't usually care for black guitars, but one word sums this one up .... Smokin' !!!
big bob Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 That is pretty! How did you manage to get pictures of it in Brent's back yard ?
mars_hall Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Very nice guitar. At present, I play my black 157 way more than any of my other Heritages. It just seems to have something special going on that isn't at all related to its cosmetics. I like the reflection off the Guinness in the background, as well. Wait, that was on my screen. ;p
FredZepp Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Very cool stuff... there is something special about a black 157. They somehow possess an additional measure of Kalamazoo magic.
brentrocks Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 that baby was CHERRY! a really great lefty snag Paul...enjoy it with a black, well, almost...really dark, Guiness
mark555 Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 That is pretty! How did you manage to get pictures of it in Brent's back yard ? Photoshop? Paul, what a beautiful guitar, you're going to have to come over sometime, even if I am right handed... YOu must have one of the best collections of Heiritage guitars in Europe, if not THE best.
Fernando Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I have a Black Beauty also! Maybe we should form a sub-section of HOC and call it HBBOC. Very cool stuff... there is something special about a black 157. They somehow possess an additional measure of Kalamazoo magic. I agree. There's something about it, definitely.
yoslate Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 "Black Beauty on the grass, alas, alas...." Apologies to Gertrude Stein, and, I guess, by extension, to Brent.... Hunh.... A reason to place Brent and Gertrude Stein...in the same post (the same yard...?).... Love this place!
SouthpawGuy Posted July 27, 2011 Author Posted July 27, 2011 Thanks guys ! The last time I had a black guitar was sometime in the '80s, a Westbury I think it was. This one is a few steps above it though ! It is a beauty for sure, and as Brent has said, in minty condition. The previous owner only played it in church. The pickups are supposed to be Schallers but I have a feeling they may be HRWS, not sure as I've haven't played Schallers before. I do have a set of Seth Lovers ready to go into it but I think I'll wait a while as what ever is in it sounds fine as it is. Been playing it a fair bit in the last few days, it certainly is not lacking in sustain, neck pickup is nice and fat and the bridge has lots of bite. It weighs in at 9.4lbs, not too bad on the shoulders, and less than my LP Standard. And of course a big thanks to Brent !

SouthpawGuy Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 I don't think Southpaw is in Europe is he? I thought Tennessee! Ha ! Not unless Tennessee has moved three thousand miles to the east of Michigan !
H555rocks Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 ????? The same marking on the headstock is on the head of the horse!
SouthpawGuy Posted July 29, 2011 Author Posted July 29, 2011 The same marking on the headstock is on the head of the horse! And so it is ! Now that's attention to detail !
GASguy Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Classy Axe. There is something special about a black beauty, especially a Heritage!
Connor Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I don't usually gravitate toward black guitars either, but I think I would make an exception here. That is a beautiful guitar!

I know exactly what you mean, before I received this one you couldn't have given me a black guitar for free.
