Seymour Duncan pickups used in Heritage guitars

I was thinking my '86 H170Cm had Duncans, but don't remember for sure. Whatever they were they were noisier than I liked so I replaced them with EMGs.

I still have the original pickups around here somewhere, maybe I will try to dig them out for a look-see. Not sure if they were marked anyway. I think the guy at the music store may have said they were Duncans. Of course that was 25 years ago so who knows.

Thanks for the post SouthPawGuy. I had just been musing about this stuff last week.

Orginal Heritages used Schallers.... Not sure when they went to Duncans....

I think they became an option sometime in the early to mid '00s and went to the standard equipment in the last few years ?

Yes, when Schaller's shipping and inventory became inconsistent, Heritage went to Ducans as their standard pups.

I must have had Schaller's then. I do remember it was a brand I had heard of before. Appreciate the info guys.

Usually a quick and easy way to tell is if it had to adjustment screws per side.

Mine has one adjustment screw per side, per humbucker pickup. I think I will go look for those old pickups just for fun. Apparently I have too much stuff because I have only a rough idea of where they may be. Of course, it was 25 years ago.

Yeah I should have known better than to ask. :tongue3:

Hmmmmm...... for some reason I am unable to edit my previous post. I found the pickups. They have TWO screws per side, not one as I thought. They are indeed black Schaller's. They are idendified as Schaller made in germany, Neck, Bridge. As I recall they sounded ok tonewise but were way noisier than I liked. Is there a general board consensus on the older Schaller"s?

I have always liked Schallers. My theory is that you start out with a clean tone and let the amp do the work for you. I also have liked the HRWs in my 535 and the Phat Cats in my Firebird. The Seth's in the 150 I used to own sounded good too. I never liked the muddy sound of the SD 59s.

The sad part is that Rob used to be better than that. He has allowed himself to be pulled down to my level. He will be dipping snuff next.....

The Bird told me that Brent has a little one too! Not sure how he knows?

I would imagine if you ask nice he would let you see it at psp. Heck he might even let you play with it!

I saw the Bird playing with Brent's Little One, it was gruesome!

As I watched, it grew some more!

could be worse.... I went to a sales conference which everyone had to share rooms.... My co-worker got drunk ever night and would walk about the room naked because he thought he was at home....
