Hi, I need your experience. I found a H555 from 2003.

I'm in europe so prices are really different.

The guitar was bought in usa in 2003.It's

a H555 chestnutburst apparently without any cracks very good conditions with Duncan 59's, double vip system ( What's that ?),

and with maghony neck.

The prices seems to be a litlle high for me 3100 dollars

So take in account it's in europe.

First I would like a H535 to play jazz, soul funk and plan to find a tomkat amps for that.

So what do you think thanks for your help

Hi, welcome to the HOC from another European member. I'm in the UK.

Prices for left-handed guitars are higher than for right-handed but the price you have quoted seems high unless it is for a new guitar. A used, right-handed 535 would be about £1200 (€1350) in the UK, a left-handed example costing maybe £100 or so more. I'm not sure about 555 prices - they are less common and have a higher specification so would cost a little more.

There is a European left-handed player on this forum, Southpawguy, and I expect he will help with some better information.

If it's the guitar I think it is well there's a reason it hasn't sold. A new lefty 555 was about $2800 two years ago. My 2007 535 bought new from a dealer was just under $2k.

Get a quote from a Heritage dealer, you probably will have quite a bit of change from $3100 for a new one spec'd to your own requirements. Of course there is still shipping and import duty to pay on a new guitar but at least it will be a new guitar made especially for you.

D-VIP is a vari phase system .... details here : http://www.heritageg...r.com/dvip.html

( i.e. single master volume and tone not the same as a usual two humbucker guitar )

Also there's a good chance the neck on a 2003 555 will be on the slim side, unless of course the guitar was custom ordered with a larger neck profile.

Thanks !!! southpawguy I'm pretty sure I saw you on the forum where I found this guitar...

What does it mean a slim neck regarding with H535 ?

What about the sound

It seems to be a really good guitar but 8 years old for this price really hesitant.

I already send mail to Adirondack, jerry lefty, southpaw in usa but don't know if i could trust them

Especially for the shipping because they quote the guitar around 500 euros so what's happen in case of problem

Southpawguy I'm really interested in founding an heritage dealer but how i could proceed for instance get a quote for a new guitar on a us dealer ? Usually they just have one model in stock

You're probably know highends guitar ? They have a H535 for 2400 pounds

Maybe it's better to order one to a us dealer so as to choose what I want

Slim neck is more like a '60s Gibson profile, most of the newer Heritages tend to have a medium neck profile. Not big but fuller than previous years. Personally I would order from a US dealer, I have bought from Jerrys Lefty Guitars, a G&L, and Wolfe Guitars, Heritage and G&L. I wouldn't hesitate to order from either again. Highend guitars in the UK, haven't dealt with them myself, their prices are enough to put me off.

where are you in Europe? By the way, I am also in England. Southpaw really knows his lefty stuff, so he can give you lots of information. I own a 555 which I paid £800 for five years ago, (maybe six, I can't remember....) But yes, in my opinion, the price is too high for what it is.

Heritage 555's are known for having a slim neck, which means that it is not wide and not deep, but they do play nicely. some say that they are similar to the 60's Gibsons, but Peteraltonegreen has a friend with a 60's 335 that has an extremely thin neck and the 555 is heavier than that.

Depending on where you live in Europe might be something to do with the price asked, some dealers and private sellers just do not know how to price Heritage, but in England, I would expect to get £1200 for my 555, but I also feel I would be lucky to do so.

If you are buying, and willing to spend $3000, in my opinion you would be much better talking to Jay Wolfe in Florida, the major Heritage dealer in the world. He carries good stock and is a very upstanding guy and very honest, he would get you something sorted out and look after you really well, and you know you would be getting a fair deal.

They aren't called High End guitars for nothing!

Yep, they might as well be called 'I Don't Negotiate' Guitars. I've spoken to the guy there twice. No deals, no movement - I bet he's still got 90% of the stuff he bought three or four years ago.

Thanks to all. You're full of advices. So The best way is to go to the heritage

Website to custom my guitar (color...) And after to contact

Wolfe guitar or Jerry's lefty to have a quote and order it.

Is it the good way ?

How many time is necessary to have the guitar ?

I'm afraid by the shipping, imagine you receive your guitar

Do you mean how long will it take for the guitar to be built ? The dealer should be able to keep you informed.

As for shipping let's just say I've had more than one shipped to me in Ireland from the US, and had no problems.

I haven't placed a custom order myself, I wasn't aware it was 50% down with the balance when the instrument is ready. You might want to check a few dealers to see if this is the norm. Some dealers will take paypal, others only accept bank transfer or credit card, again you will probably need to check with a few different dealers. The other option is to buy a guitar that's in stock, chances are you may get a better deal. Some custom ordered 535s are not far off 555 specs. There are a few sites that have lefty Heritage guitars, in no particular order .... Jerrys Lefty Guitars, Wolfe Guitars, Southpaw Guitars and Adirondack. As for shipping and taxes be aware that you might need to pay VAT on the shipping costs, at a minimum of 20% on $500 shipping that's an extra $100. Just be prepared for the additional costs.

Perfect I will strat my quest about the tax you have to pay on the value declare by the dealer ?

To come back to music which models do you advice is better to play jazz standards and funk sometimes rock

I'm very interrested in H575 but maybe H535 is more polyvalent for all styles of music

Import duty and taxes are calculated on the value of the guitar + the shipping costs. A used guitar valued at $1000 is half of the tax of a new guitar at $2000 ( obviously). If the shipping is $200 for each the tax on the shipping is the same for both. The 575 is great for jazz, however as it's fully hollow it doesn't like high volume and overdrive as much as a 535. Another model to consider is the Millennium. There are versions with and without f holes, it's a semi solid guitar slightly bigger than a 150. There is a used one pickup Millennium 155 at Elderly Instruments

hey , I had an answer from adirondack ( there are really nice and helpfull ) to custo; a guitar it takes 12 weeks

So regarding your lqst;essage southpaw I m really interested in H155 but what is the main difference with h535

and what is the difference for the sound with or without f holes.

millenium DC or millenium ultra ?

Sorry for all these questions but I can,t try the guitar and it's like a bet ( for the sound )

H575 is not suitable because I want so;ething polyvalent for mainly jazz but for funk soul and sometimes blues rock sound

what do you think about amps I hesitate between a AER and a Tomkat from jazzkat
