happa95 Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Is the only difference the depth of the body? What are the differences in sound/feel of a thinner hollowbody?

Jazzpunk Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Hey Happa, good to see ya' on the HOC! Nice meeting you guys yesterday. I'd recommend the 575 for your needs. It has a killer jazz sound for the big band stuff but you can easily play some funk and blues on it as well if you string it with round wounds. The 525 is great as well but it definitely does not sound as full as the 575 (the thinner body depth is quite comfortable though). Plus your band instructor is going to be giving you dirty looks whenever you encounter that lovely P90 hum!
kbp810 Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I love my 575 and if you still want to get dirty looks from your band instructor, you could always put in a set of HB sized P90's like I did with mine

I think that I would prefer the 575, but the only Heritage I've found (besides yours, of course) is a 525 up at The Amp Shop/Bass Exchange in Sherman Oaks. I'd love to find a local 575, though.
MichYank Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Hey kbp - how do you like the P90 in the 575? Mine has '59's and I'm not sure if I like them yet. Was thinking about Seth's or Phat Cats. Any suggestions? BTW- beauti-me-ful 575, must be a joy to play!

Atlanta discount music...AND...Earthshaking music (in Chambleee I think) are both possible resources. I spoke with both stores last week. they do have some Heritage inventory. Maybe give them a shot!

DetroitBlues Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 I've played KBP's and I really like the sound. Be careful with the gain, because it will feedback on you if you try to let the notes ring out. Tone wise, its incredible. Very old style blues tones, almost Jazz like. I loved playing Stormy Monday on it. The guitar feels more like an acoustic than an electric. Neck size and string spacing are like that. Not for those who want to do any kind of electric blues or rock with lot of string bending. 13's are a little hard to bend and causes a lot of pressure on the bridge and top of the guitar.
